Birthday news
Happy Birthday George!
Today's Program
Paul McMenemy welcomed our District Governor, Susan Zbinden and her Rotary husband, Richard Delangte.
This is stop # 15 and she thanked our club for our efforts.
She has been a Rotarian since 2008. She has many Rotary accomplishments including serving on the District Training committee.
She was born in Switzerland, speaks several languages and has lived in several countries. She has worked as a Trade Show specialist and now she and Richard run a company that sells dental products for cats, dogs, and horse. (maybe canine halitosis will become a thing of the past.)
She spoke of her fate being linked to the World Trade Centre disaster in 2001. She just missed being there and Richard was a volunteer firefighter in the aftermath. He picked up some nasty toxins and got cancer and liver failure. They were lucky to attend  a medical research  meeting. Richard has successfully had a liver transplant and is well.  So to give back, she has worked toward becoming District Governor.
This years Rotary Motto is 'Unite for Good'.
She had some basic suggestions for our club: Incorporate Rotary's Action Plan, have a succession plan, keep the new members coming, donate to the Rotary Foundation. The $ will come back to the club via district grants. Also we Rotarians should be having fun.
Don't forget the District Conference on October 4th.
Susan wants to be approachable as DG, not just a figurehead.
Thank you Susan.
