Kristen introduced our speaker, Monika Ekres.

Monika is Executive Director of Victim Services for Waterloo Region (VSWR). She started  there in 2022 in the role of Human Trafficking Crises Intervention Counsellor. She has 8 years of experience in the role and did a cross-cultural internship in SE Asia. VSWR works closely with WR Police.

VSWR is non profit and works with victims of abuse, those dealing with suicide, dealing with the after effects of accidents and missing persons

She spoke of a new programme called ‘ Project Life Saver’. This provides support for families dealing with Dementia and Autism where the person may wander. The idea is to equip the affected person with a bracelet. Experience has proven that the person is found sooner with much less expense and trauma to the person. They have not launched yet. They have acquired 13 bracelets so far.   This project costs about $400.00 per family.

There some questions from the audience about the bracelet hardware being out of date.

Milija thankeds Monika.

Paul M. had some good news. Todd lets Paul stay at his cottage when Paul is travelling in the Boonies. Probably heading for Petawawa, right?

That's it.
