Susanne Zbinden Bio
Susanne joined Rotary in March 2008 with the Rotary Club of Orangeville after having moved to Canada two years prior. After serving as Club Secretary for a number of years, she became Club President in 2014-2015. In October of 2021 Susanne changed clubs and is now a member of the Rotary Club of Orangeville Highlands.
Since 2017, Susanne has been a member of the District Training Committee, now called the Learning and Development Committee, helping with events such as PETS, RLI and chairing Club Leadership Learning. After serving as Assistant Governor for the Dufferin-Erin-Caledon cluster she was selected in November 2022 to serve as our District Governor for the Rotary year 2025-26. To prepare for this role, Susanne sat in on most district committees and their meetings to learn how the various committees work.
Susanne is a multiple Paul Harris recipient, Paul Harris Society Member, Major Donor Level 3, Benefactor and Legacy Society Member.
Originally from Switzerland, Susanne lived in Tokyo, Japan; Oxford, Mississippi; Honolulu, Hawaii and Miami, Florida to study at different universities. Susanne is a trained linguist, fluent in seven languages which she is practicing every day. She is also a certified Business Etiquette and International Protocol Consultant trained by the Protocol School of Washington. For several years Susanne worked as a Trade Show Specialist, certified Project Manager and Safety & Compliance Director (CDS) for Richard Delongte’s transportation company called Display Transportation.
In 2020, Susanne and Richard very successfully started a new venture: First importing and distributing, and now manufacturing dental health products for cats, dogs and horses.
Susanne lives in Caledon with her husband Richard Delongte, a Rotarian with the Guelph-Trillium club, her mother Gabi Zbinden a second-generation member of the Orangeville Highlands Club. And the most important member of the household is Koa, their 17-year old poodle-terrier mix.
