Today's Program
Unveiling of The Rotary Peace Pole
Katie Watson introduced our speaker Kathi Dick, President of the Peace Pole Committee.

Kathi Dick joined Rotary in 2007, became Club President of the Rotary Club of Mississauga in 2013/2014 and is currently serving as President of the Peace Pole Committee.
Kathi congratulated Katie Watson and our club for bringing attention to World Peace in our community.

The Peace Pole project started in Ishikawa, Japan where a small gathering of peace workers joined Masahisa Goi to listen to his philosophy and visions for a better world. Masahisa Goi encouraged creative ways in order to carry the message to public view. In 1976, the idea of placing the Peace Message and Prayer on poles began to gain popularity. This was the first impulse which led to the beginnings of the Peace Pole Project.  In 1990, the Society was accepted as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in affiliation with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations.

With over 250,000 Peace Poles planted worldwide, the movement to spread the Universal Message, May Peace Prevail On Earth, continues to unfold in the spirit of love, peace and global oneness.
Our Peace Pole is a beacon of hope carrying a message of peace in English, French, Hindi, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Spanish, Tagalog, Punjabi, brail and QR code.

Rena thanked our speaker and commended Katie Watson on a job well done.

I encourage you to take a walk this weekend down past Our Lady of Fatima School to visit our Peace Pole and to pray for and or meditate on world peace.  ☮
