Kim Fowler, who is not only a woman of Distinction award winner but most recently awarded the King Charles Coronation medal -well deserved as she has been active in our community in so many ways - collaborating and bringing together families, volunteers and kids for over 20 years. She truly believes that the young youth will be a future leaders and need to be guided in times of challenge. Kim is the ED for Fiddlesticks organizing neighbourhood associations - 8 in total. They provide social and recreational programs to encourage healthy lifestyles, volunteer participation and a sense of involvement within the area - Franklin Blvd.-clyde Rd and Pinebush Rd. They have many successful programs and run events in all communities for all ages - the Pumpkin walk evening is held November 1st Cowan Blvd. The neighbourhood associations also partners with other community organizations such as House of Friendship and Haven House to assist , collaborate and support. They have a very small staff with a wide reach due to their many volunteers. Their Dream is to create a positive social environment on each street corner that will evolve into a culture of friendliness inclusive of race and religion. They act as a catalyst and nurture a true sense of community. There were many examples of volunteers having life changing effects on some of these kids. Always encouraging, when we as Rotarians strive to also make a difference whether it be with Kidsablity - Children, seniors and overall community. We are also very much the same in looking to help other organizations and collaborate to make a bigger impact to those who need it most. We have such a great club and everyone should be super proud of the work we do and the fantastic speakers that Larry and his group organize to remind us of what people are doing and how they are making our community stronger. Paul McM thanked Kim and Prez Keith reminded us that we are meeting at the Galt Collective next week Todd's joke was a solid 6/10 - definitely improving over the last two years.....Something about a Blank Stair..... Wishing everyone a great week- and don't forget to get those last minute ROSE ORDERS in
