Today's Program
Rena enjoying being behind the podium introduced our Speaker Cheryl  Pauchuk
Cheryl cane to talk to our Rotary club to talk about a fund raiser around Halloween to raise funds and Food for Food banks.

The Scarecrow Club is an automated, online-based program designed to help communities run a successful scarecrow tour and food drive. The system is built to be an easy and fun event for local clubs and organizations to execute.

Participating communities receive a comprehensive digital package that automates much of the event's logistics. This includes a custom webpage, a Stripe account for collecting online donations, and automatically generated marketing materials, such as posters with a unique QR code. The program also uses Google Maps to take participant addresses and create a dynamic tour map, which is a key component of the event.

The event encourages a mix of businesses and residents to create scarecrow displays and place food donation bins. The tour maps are distributed by donation, and all food and funds collected are given to local food banks. The presenter highlighted the ease of the program, noting that it can be run by a small number of active volunteers, as most of the administrative work is handled by the platform.

The speaker’s own experience with the event demonstrates its impact. Starting with $3,300 and two tons of food collected in its first year during COVID, the club's event has grown significantly, raising $10,000 and four tons of food last year alone. The program is now expanding, with other communities and organizations, including one Rotary Club, using the system to run their own events and support their local communities.
