Lena introduced our speaker, Val Saturno - Val grew up in Italy and moved to Cambridge with his family. He has worked as the Business Manager for Bennetts for most of his working career. Val started We Fund Care also known as Ryan Saturno Patient Amenities Fund in memory of his son who passed away from Cancer. It was done due to their experience, challenges and so much emotional strain on the family with little support from the cancer treatments. Ryan was always one to help and was a very a passionate, positive person despite the many challenges he endured throughout the treatment. Val wanted to carry on his legacy of compassion and caring to help kids and families ease the financial and emotional strain by creating We Fund Care. They have raised well over a million dollars to help families with children between the ages of 0-18 years of age. They cover out of pocket expenses such as fuel, hotels, groceries and lost wages. They work with five major hospitals locally and also provide funding to these hospitals in order for them to provide areas for families to create a normal comfortable home environment despite the sterile hospital setting. There is also an annual Golf tournament to raise awareness and funds and that is on September 6th at Victoria Park East Golf club.
