Club Job Openings
I think we are still looking for another bulletin editor who has a sense of humour - or think they do and would like to have the ability to be creative - if you are  hearing impaired.  Ditto to that.
Good news
Chris Wood - Vacationed in Sedona and  Tucson -they met up with other Rotarians - Larry and Anita. Great hiking, golf, cycling - all what is important and they love to do.
They decided to buy a place and will officially become snow birds....its rumoured to be a four bedroom - but for some it may only be one.
Heidi - was happy to be back and wanted to comment on all the wonderful support everyone and the lovely flowers.
Graham is going back to England for the Coronation - perhaps he can take Megan's place.
Larry always celebrates two birthdays and one is 26 years - amazing!!!
yours Truly is going to Japan on Sunday and will be sad to miss all the great events happening in May-the Rotary event calendar is jam packed.
For all those newer Rotarians - make sure you sign up and get engaged with some events - you will have a great time and really you joined for the fabulous fellowship as well as the great feeling you get when you give back to our community through events.
If you haven't been out there is not much of an excuse - over the next month - who doesn't like a tequila and tacos or some good excercise cleaning up the trails or challenging the mind with Trivia. District conference is also a great time to really get to know the extent of events happening in our district and engage with people just like you!!
Today's Program
Ida Pearson introduced Murray - lucky she didn't take up too much time as Murray had a great presentation and likely could have been longer than an hour.
Ida mentioned that they first met in 1958 and Murray was a little overdressed for the area- so after he toned it down a bit and bought some jeans he fit right in.
Both Murray and Ida grew up with Agriculture in"grained" into their backgrounds.
And the rest was history.....
Not only did Murray have his dental practice but Ida always admired that he would make the time for his kids, dedication to farming and the community always helping where needed.
Murray, having graduated from Dentistry - they went up to Churchill - very small community - Ida was teaching - Murray then did an internship at Sunnybrook and back in the area by 1980.
Murray has two children Andrea and Jamie - Andrea is in Paris Ontario and realtor and Jamie is in San Diego working in IT with Nvidia. Murray has four grandchildren - and has been lucky to see them frequently. Andrea actually helped to charter a Rotary club in Paris where the oldest member is 44.  It is much more informal and works for their demographic.
Murray owned a dental practice in Cambridge for years and even before retiring he took the courses to do Forensic Dentistry- super interesting work! THAT in itself is a completely different topic that Murray could speak on at another time.
Not only has Murray been a Past president but sat on the board as well as participate in many Rotary and Rotary International projects- India Dominican and Scotland curling.  He also is a member of the Barbershop Men's group - they have won many awards and going to Nashville to compete- they have already competed in Pittburgh, Louisville and Orlando.
It was an amazing re- do of the Who Am I talk.
Yours Truly Thanked Murray - so many great memories of the annual Rotary Pig Roast held at the farm for so many years. Thanks again Murray for taking the time  and doing so much for our community and Rotary.
Todd's joke was at least a two clap joke this time............
