Opening and Sgt @ Arms Report
Apologies for the delay in the Bulletin -and as I am writing - hoping Florida is not going to be hit too bad by the second hurricane - Milton.

President Paul kept everyone in line by starting the meeting on time -  Johnny Smooth may need to add some good news for his phone ringing.

PP Rena recited the Four Way Test

Invocation done by Treasurer Tom

Nancy Y provided our S@A report and there were a few great Rotarians missing - 18 members present and Mike was our guest

50/50 Draw
Johnny Smooth was in fine form - and Jimmy McPherson was the first loser again this week although he did draw a big heart - the other loser also with a big heart was Steve W.
Announcements
Todd announced that Rotary Rose Pick up NOT BE AT ZEHRS - it will be done by Lisa - Kelly Green's Flower Shop on Grand Ave.

- The Rotary District 7080 Conference is on Saturday October 5 in Milton; all day, includes many incredible speakers, Rotary information, and lunch! Todd L and Nancy Y are both signed up, perhaps others - consider signing up!  https://rotary7080.org/page/discon-meeting-home

Mark your calendars for March 20th at the Newfie Club - and get your Cowboy Hat's, and Boots for a fantastic Hoe Down - stay tuned for more info and if you would like to get onto the committee-contact Randy C.

Prez Paul reminded everyone how important our Rotary International Foundation is and how much our funds go to work globally.  In 2023, $417MLN donated to Lifesaving projects globally, 1285 global grants, 485 District Grants and 105 Disaster Response Grants. RI has been awarded the highest honours in how they manage their expenses and adminstration. 100% of every dollar is donated- the admin fee's are used from a portion of the investment proceeds.

Club Opportunities
Always have opportunities at the club - talk to Pres Paul, Randy Cole, or any Directors to get involved.
Good news
Lots of Good News $$$ this week!

Rena was able to borrow some good news funds -  happy to get a great bday gift from her Dad of Lenny Kravitz tickets - but she had also bought for herself as she didn't want to miss the opportunity.
See Rena if you would like to go.
Todd had great news - Rotary Roses had "a little hiccup"  - Zehrs is out and Kelly Green's is back in. Thanks to Lisa and her team.
If you do need any flowers  after Rotary Roses - Kelly Green's is a great place to order - and it would be nice to support as she did come in to help save our campaign.
Jim M had some good news - went shooting celebrating his Big Birthday....again ....with Suhki, Todd, Paul T and Paul M
Paul M is picking up a long time friend at the airport he has not seen in years.
Thanks to Keith P. who bought a really nice bright Rotary "Bowling" shirt $50 - we need to treat Keith to a game in the winter - fellowship night!
Today's Program
Todd  introduced today's guest speaker, New Member who am I - Lena - who really needs no introduction as she has been working with so many of us in the club for sometime.
Whether it was with the  Oktoberfest out in front of the Cambridge Mall then Newfie club or buying Rotary Roses .
Lena was born in small village in Italy - province of Calabria - her family immigrated to Canada in 1962. She is the oldest of three brother and sister.
Lena married her high school sweet heart Ed - a professional soccer player and they had two girls - Miranda and Sabrina - unfortunately Ed's passed away at a very young age from Cancer.
Both girls are successful and teach at Glenview - where Lena also went to School. She is a Nonna to five grandchildren - twins and triplets. Now that is efficient!
Speaking of efficient - Lena spent her time from High school until she retired in 2018 working for the City of Cambridge and specifically the Executive Assistant to the Mayors of the city.  Beginning with Claudette Miller, who was very instrumental in bringing Toyota to Cambridge. Mayor Jane Brewyer and also Mayor Craig.
She was a volunteer for Soccer, Baseball Associations, Canamera games Memorial golf tournament and the Foodbank. She was chair of IAAP as well - for Administrative professionals.
Lena' s passion now is travel and she works as a home based travel agent that can curate some fabulous trips
Our club is very lucky to have such a passionate and dedicated Rotarian such as Lena.
Dr. Tom Thanked our speaker.
