Opening and Sgt @ Arms Report
Here we go again folks. It's almost fall.
President Toddler opened. Jim Mcpherson recited the Four Way test and Ivana reminded us of our Rotary duties in the Innvocation.
We toasted our country and Bonnie King Charlie III. We take comfort in that he finally has got a job.

Vince was our SAA. We have 12 Rotarians present plus Randy on zoom. Neil Ostlund, a prospective summertime member and Anne Marie's husband Steven were our guests.
50/50 Draw
So Johnny is AWOL. Maybe somewhere in the Carribean. But I don't know for sure.

Paul Cody was a good stand in and he fought off Jim McPherson in both sets. Some $400 in the pot.

Today's Program
Tom Everett introduced our speaker today. Tanya McCready came to us via Zoom. Tanya and her partner Hank run Winterdance Dog Sled Tours in Haliburton.
22 years ago they left Southern Ontario and moved to Ontario's wilderness to set up their business.
They now have 2000 guests per year. They have written a couple of books on their experiences.
They are still at it and share their lives with 4 children, 5 cats and a lot of huskies.
She talked about their experience in building a business, lessons about overcoming adversity and team work.

They were in Guelph and bought a husky pup. It all started then. The move to Haliburton was not a bed of roses. The accommodation on their property was non existent and Tanya found she was pregnant. But they moved into town and got the business going anyway.
In March 2010 Hank and his dog team entered a dog race starting in Anchorage Alaska. It was quite the experience getting all their stuff up there.  83 teams and 1000 dogs .The Alaskans were welcoming and it was party time before the race.  Unfortunately Hank had a bad experience with cold exposure and hypothermia on that race. Over the next six years they did  better entering the Yukon quest and had some good finishes.
We saw a slide show. Brrrrr.
Looking after the dogs is a year long and full time job.
Tanya was thanked by Katie.
I do not have a link but hey, just Google ' Winterdance Dog Sled Tours'.
