President Chad was back in the saddle today...'.il est de retour en selle'. And he opened the meeting
Sandra Pelltier gave the 4 way test and Paul Cody gave a very impressive invocation. Wow!

SAA was Larissa P.  She said 26 Rotarians from the Preston Hespeler diaspora where present plus 3 guests. Ivana Schibana was a guest of Rena. Roxanne came to keep restraints on Johnny Smooth and Rob Skura was our guest speaker.

Rafflemeister Johnny Smooth easily put away Paul T and Joslin.
Good News
Editor Tom said he and Janet were heading to Whitehorse for some real cold and snow. Tom has an art gig in a coffee shop there. Also we are looking forward to seeing our grand kids and doing some winter stuff with them.

Heidi said good things about last week's Hawa'ian bash. Heretofore all board members will have to wear grass skirts and walk on hot coals as part of the initiation rite. Dissenters will be taken to the volcano.

Chris Wood trumped Editor Tom by saying they were going to Myrtle Beach for six weeks. Crabs, beer and golf??

Announcements and Upcoming Events
Chad said he was away last week as his daughter's volleyball team was trying out for an olympic slot and they were there to cheer her on. They did not get it but will keep trying.
Tom Everett spoke of the Curling Bonspiel coming up in 2 weeks. There has been good response from our club, but poor from outside. There is a 50/50 draw and a raffle of donated gifts.  Donations will be much appreciated.
Chad said that there is a Rotary Leadership Training session in Kitchener on April 4th. It is a good way of learning about Rotary and what it does.

Rena spoke of Project Linus. It is a cross-Canada crochetting, sewing, kitting and quilting group that makes things for ill and underprivileged kids. Help is needed. We can voluteer to help sew on tags, sort and deliver to local agencies. You can help by coming to a meeting. Let Rena know.
Rena also said she had a tour of the Child Witness Centre and was impressed.  We do support the Youth Symposium which happens in April. We are invited to attend.

Johnny Smooth  talked about an auction for the Veterans Golf Tournament. So basically it is an online auction to win the pleasure of sharing a golf cart with a radio personality. The  celebs are Darryl Law and Gayle O'brien from Dave FM who will be talking up the Golf Fundraiser on their radio show. Who gets to drive? Can we take them for a spin down to the Badger? Who fixes the flat and pays the fine?  To find more info on the Golf Tournament, go to our Rotary Website. ( have I said too much?)

Chad says come to the Rotary Meeting on Tuesday eve next week and hear Dave Doherty doing his ' who am I'.
Todd said he had a call from his old frenemy Bob Cheeseburger aka Theisburger. Bob is lying low in Portugal.  Todd, is this good or bad news?  Also first Bingo went well and Todd thanked those who volunteered.

Program
Sandra Pelltier introduced our speaker Rob Skura.
Rob has had a tour of duty in the area of golf and dental stuff. He is writing some books.
Today he talked about how to succeed in pursuing personal wellness. Specifically he spoke of making changes toward healthy eating.
He spoke of Katie and the Killer Butterfly. I think some people had trouble associating this with eating well....Hey guys this was an analogy!
He said there are some groups of foods that are bad for most of us ie processed foods with chemicals, wheat products ( some of us I think), corn, sugar and antibiotics. I think he made some good points here. Also we have to search individually for foods that make us feel good and feel sick. Some foods may cause individuals inflammation, joint, gut and skin problems.
He had 5 points to success:  start with small steps, prioritize, take the carrot and not the stick (?), get a healthy eating Buddy, stock good food , then you won't eat junk.
This makes sense.

That's all folks. See you in a bit. Hope the Curling Bonspiel is a roaring success.
