Opening and Sgt @ Arms Report
Here we go again folks. It's almost fall.
President Toddler opened. Paul McM recited the Four Way test and
We toasted our country - King Charles the 3rd - who will not be including "faith" in his title when the ceremony is held.
He believes in the plural form "faiths" for other people to have their freedom to worship.
The honourable Jim Johnston was our SAA and announced we had 16 members and 6 guests of which three were the security and supervisor of our guest speaker.
Randy's bday was on zoom- and Katie also had a birthday last week.
50/50 Draw
Johnny smooth was back at it this week and there were two losers - Paul M and Vanessa.

The Treasure chest is growing and the pot is now $500!

Club Job Openings
Always looking for a Bulletin Editor - you can be as creative as you like and you will never get fired.  Sometimes you get asked to do it three times in a row.

Good news
Jim Johnston - his eye surgery was successful - and I'm sure the golf game improved
Rena - announced they had a great time at Four Fathers Brewing for satellite club. Also completed Rare walk charitable event -great entertainment and BBQ. Matt added good news mentioning his family was also there and had a great time. Raised over $50k - he was also happy to use Katie's service BG MOVING to move offices.
Chris Wood - biking in Amsterdam and Belgium - great time and just behind Paul Mc.
Paul Mc had a great holiday with other friends and their spouse that he met in military but had to adjust his travels to accommodate the Queen's passing - it was quite the juggle.
Belgium.. Scotland and of course the UK were some of the stops. Good news was that he was still married and Suzanne is still speaking to him.
Editor at large also had a great trip to Croatia and sailed for 7 days from Split to Dubrovnik on a beautiful 5 bedroom  55 foot Catamaran. Was able to walk off all the over indulgences of the trip as the steps to the old town from the Air BNB was 296 one way! The Queens passing didn't affect travel as we were able to miss the funeral by a day and flew into Gatwick.
Today's Program
Matt Morris introduced Past President from the Cambridge Sunrise Club .
Jenn has four children - Mackenzie attended our meeting - and she is a legal assistant with a spanish degree.
Both Jenn and her husband Keith were rotary exchange students Jenn spent her year in Boliva and Keith in Japan.
Both had  completely immersed themselves in the culture with no family visits for a year -both had four host families that they communicate with and visit to this day.
It is certainly a special experience for the Host Families and the exchange students. It is their family away from home.
The experience is absolutely amazing for kids between the ages of 16-18 - it is life changing for them as it builds on their current skills and increases their confidence, their courage , independence, and leadership qualities they wouldn't be able to experience.
The program started in 1927 with 8000 students annually - it is based on District by District participation and focuses on Rotary's goal to build global Peace and Understanding.
The applications will be accepted from now until end of October - selection will be done November and December with District having final decision on candidate from our area.
In the summer time both inbound and outbound students arrive. The students need to be between 16-18 years of age, Cdn Citizen with a valid passport.  Excellent academic standing- good character and reputation and able to afford a financial cost.
We are looking for four host families and if you have never done it - there are so many people in our clubs who have had such positive experiences - reach out to either President Todd, Jim Johnston, Chris Wood, Larry Brokenshire, Murray Pearson, yours truly.
Chris Wood thanked the speaker and spoke about her experience hosting some students and they also still communicate today.
Todd provided  his thanks and perhaps a riddle .......of which Rena was quick to get the answer.
