Today's Program
Paul T. introduced Courtney Waterfall from Shelter Movers.
It started  in KW in December 2020 - 240 moves thus far.
The movers are volunteers no cost to those requiring to move and would include if necessary - storage, security, police escorts, language translations and fostering.
They use rental vehicles so it is very discreet and no alerts there is a bad situation.
Waterloo is more concentrated than other areas for landlord abuse and have the worst stats in the country - which could be a function of better reporting and better social services.
They will move people more than once if there is a challenge and they are needed.
The average age of those that require the services - 35-55 with average of one child
Definitely a need for our region.
Katie Watson thanked the Speaker.
