Opening and Sgt @ Arms Report
President Toddler opened, the 4 way test was recited by one of our resident Scotsmen, Jimmy McPherson, who looks good in a kilt. Tom S. did the invocation and we all toasted Rotary in Canada and around the World.
Sargeant at  Arms, another Scotsman, Jimmy Johnston said we had at least 20 members present, at least 4 guests present along with 2 soon to be Rotarians. Guests were Karim Bhati, Harcharan Singh, Taylor Herfurth and her mom, Jillian Henderson. Bob Bedford also graced us with his presence.

First off, two souls were welcomed into the Rotary fold. Pushpinder Singh was inducted in person by Rena, Paul, Ivana and Raj who pinned on the wheel. Todd welcomed Neil Ostlund  as a new Rotarian over Zoom. Neil was down in Arkansas and had to skip out of a local Rotary meeting to get inducted.

Taylor Herfurth was presented with her ' Wilf Reich Pitch Day Award'. This award supports original business ideas and is presented to Conestoga College students. Erica did the honours.

50/50 Draw
Jonas Bonas was in fine form today... both Paul T Cody and George Sczepski were loosers. The Pot groweth.
Announcements
Rena reminded us that Lang's  gift cards were for sale. Langs gets a percentage of the sale. They make a great Xmas present. Purchased cards will be delivered on December 5th.
Chris  Wood. She is very excited about the visiting Scots. She curled with them on Monday and thinks that our curlers can beat them. On Monday November 14th you can join our Scottish visitors for lunch at GCC at 1230. The piped in curlers start the game at 130.
Then there is the banquet on Tuesday starting at 530 for cocktails, dinner at 630 and entertainment at 730. Wear your kilt. No regular meeting on Thursday next week. Talk to Murray or Chris if any questions. Let Todd know if you are coming to the banquet so he knows the size of haggis to order.

Paul T reminded us of our Christmas Party on Nov. 27th. Come and give Santa a pinch!

Rena reminded us of ' Socks and Bottoms'  for the homeless and needy. Bring them to a meeting or the Xmas Party.

Bingo  made money close to 30000 .  That money gets spent in the community.  Prez Todd announced who are volunteers are   but i missed the list. Todd recruited George SZ  and Paul Mc to this exclusive group,  After listening to our speaker I am sure Todd will think of ways to make the list of Bingo Volunteers to be more inclusive and welcoming.

Good news
Wally Wood has a birthday today. We reminded Chris.

Bob Bedford has some loose change so he came to the meeting to spend it. He said that he met George Sczepski 27 years ago and George roped him into Rotary. Bob loves spending time with Todd.  He likes Larry B. because he is the only Rotarian here older than Bob.
Larry Brokenshire ' almost' got a hole in one. He showed us proof. That's a shame. A little puff of wind would have saved the day.
Brian Waddell has invited Fergus Gilles, an engineer of note with Scottish background, to his home. Brian is also building a structure in his back yard. All to entertain the Scots.  Sounds formidable. Is Fergus a curler?
Today's Program
Paul McMenemy was our speaker. He introduced himself. He spoke about Remembrance Day.
He spoke a bout his own family of which several members have been in the Military over several generations.
His dad, Daniel was a paratrooper in the British Army.  They only carried one parachute which had to open in low jumps of 500ft. If it didn't you didn't need a second chute.
Paul's older brother was in Bosnia and the Middle East.
Paul joined the army when he was 17. He became part of a rapid response team and served in Cyprus among other locations. He has 'jumped ' in several countries and has formed lifelong friendships with his fellow paratroopers.
He spoke of our club's 'Veteran's Golf Tournament' that supports local Veterans and Veteran's housing projects.
Six to Eight weeks ago he was in Europe and was impressed by the honour with which Canadian solders were still held for their efforts in WW2. Bruges was especially memorable.
In WW2 50% of Canadian soldiers were volunteers for the war effort.
Paul said that Remembrance Day is not about glorifying war but about remembering those who fought.
He was thanked by Chris Wood.
