Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Rajbir opened the meeting about 5:30 - Randy performed well with the 4-Way Test, and Todd read an Invocation.  President Rajbir added a toast to Rotarians around the world.

In the absence of a real S@As - President Rajbir guessed we had 30, maybe 35 people in the room - it was an EXCELLENT turn out!  There were quite a few guests in the mix as well.

Paul McM introduced two potential Rotarians, TiTi, who was a Rotarian for 3 years in Nigeria; she has recently moved to Cambridge and is looking to get involved again.  Also, Kirsty Peterson-Pedro - Welcome!

Erica T introduced Wilf Rieck's widow Anna, Anna's daughter Kate, and Wilf's son Randy.
Good News
Todd L was thrilled to have his oldest, Abigail, in town for the week; she attends University of Ottawa and is home for 'reading week'; busy times, but great to have some time to catch up.
Announcements and Upcoming Events
President Rajbir reminded us of our upcoming Christmas Party - at the GCC, free for members, and only $65 for spouses/significant others/guests.  I'm sure we'll be hearing more soon with sign up sheets etc. - let's try for 100% attendance!!
Program
Part 1

Ann-Marie B as our Chair for the Rotary Foundation, provided a brief update - over 2.5 BILLION children have been vaccinated against Polio... and we are very close to living in a polio-free world, with only Afghanistan and Pakistan still hosting a small number of cases.

On November 18 at 7:00pm, there will be a District grant seminar - if interested in learning how to facilitate this process, please reach out to Ann-Marie B.

Paul McM & Randy C - summarized our recent Golf Tournament -

- a little rainy, but at least it was 18 degrees!
- 120 golfers, with 24 veterans
- Suzanne fired a cannon to get things going, but it sounds like they could have used a bigger one :)
- special mention to newer members Vanessa and Ivanna who really came through to assist.
- and special mention to Erica T for her very generous donation!!
- we'll do it all again in May!

Part 2:

Erica T kicked off our 2nd Annual Wilf Rieck Pitch Day, in conjunction with Conestoga College.

This was an EXCELLENT program, through the hard work of Erica and Rose from Conestoga - we heard from the 3 finalists:

- Kwkly - a company that delivers commonly sought after grocery items for $1.99 delivery fee ** $5,000 winner **

- Repulp - a company that is going to patent their idea of removable/recyclable bubble wrap from padded delivery envelopes ** $2,000 winner **

- Bubblenia - a company that has created an app to help children learn their native Chinese language and characters. ** $1,000 winner **

Anna wrapped up the evening with a lovely dedication to past Rotarian Wilf Rieck - he was a very generous man, with his time, and his resources.  His gift of $100,000 to assist small business in the area will hopefully live on for many many years.

I'm excited - it was great to have a hybrid presentation this year, but hopefully by next year we can do it all again, with everyone LIVE!
