Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Chad opened the meeting. Attention was given to the 4 way test and we toasted Rotary and Canada.
There were 23 Rotarians present and our guest, President of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Greg Durocher.
If there were other guests present, I apologize for missing them.

50-50 Draw

There was no 50/50 draw, which means Paul T. saved another $40 this week. And he will spend this money at the Halfway House at the course at GCC.

But Jonas Bonas is still making a splash. Today he came dressed as Sir Elton Jon(as). Actually not sure what he was wearing below the neck.

Good News
Paul T. was golfing and announced it is innately a safe and socially distancing kind of activity. He wants the Halfway house to become operational.
Chris Wood is happy to expand her bubble so that she can help out with the arrival of her next grand child in June sometime.
Jim McPherson is happy that his daughter got accepted to Laurier.
Linda B. is happy that her future retirement home on the sunshine coast of Ontario has a tenant.
Noah says that his firm is going to buy the Kiwi on Dickson Street. Hope the Kiwi stays open to provide a consolation drink after picking up one's tax form. Noah said that the Kiwi building used to be an auto repair shop. That explains the oily skim on top of the beer. 10W30?

Club Job Openings
This section is advertising for members to fill executive positions and committee roles.  If you have a job opening, bring it up at a meeting and the bulletin editors will publish it here.

Sorry folks. If you are sitting at home twiddling your thumbs there is nothing being offered today. Be patient.
Program
Rena introduced Mr Greg Derocher, who has been president of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce for 20 years.
He was almost mayor and has been involved in local politics for years.
He works to keep the city budget from increasing. He believes in fostering partnerships between the city and private enterprise. He has increased membership in the C.C. of C. so now it is the 7th largest in Canada.
He is on the Board of Drayton Theatre.

His wife says he never says 'no' .
And he like to think ' outside of the box'.
He feels that chambers of commerce can help local businesses in situations like the present.
He made some remarks about how the governments are running present financial aid programmes and tenant/ landlord stuff. Bureaucrats need a little help from people on the ground.
As businesses open and we start to play more golf he urged us to be mindful of social distancing and safety measures.
The C C of C. does virtual chats every Wednesday.

Greg gave us a good talk. He is certainly a person who  can speak for himself and who has worked hard for community interests. Thanks Greg.

This editor is going up to the cottage to donate blood to the black flies and check on the rising damp. Hey, do the black flies transmit Covid? Todd, I will check in on the beavers.
