Tracy and Rena gave out the $5000 cheques as follows: 1/ Adults in Motion represented by Shelly Murphy and participants Jessica Squires and Brian Kleinstuber. $ will go to dance lessons, art, golf, bowling and of course more ice time for hockey. 2/ The Blades: represented by Paul Saunders and Rob McGarry. This organization helps handicapped adults play hockey. $ will go to more ice time and equipment. Yes! 3/ The Bridges represented by our very own Wayne P. $ will help more people get into housing and pay for household necessities. Rena had some kind words to say about Wayne. 4/ National Service Dogs represented byDanielle Forbes and Heshman the Lab. $ will go to getting another dog for the kids in the Child Witness Programme. 5/ Women's Crisis Services represented by Donette Subron. These are women and kids that have left home due to Domestic Abuse. 205 women are in shelter at present. $ will go to provided necessities when they leave the shelter. Keith Peers then spoke about his passion for ending Human trafficing. He would like to see a Rotary facility in Cambridge to house and treat victims. He and others in RAGAS (rotary organization to help victims of trafficing) will be meeting in Calgary and erecting a Rotary Peace Pole. There will be no regular meetings at the club for the next two weeks. I missed the rest. Todd told a joke about childbirth. It was funny, not as bad as it sounds. |
