Opening and Sgt @ Arms Report
Well Folks, this is the last bulletin before Trump's Tariffs.
President Paul welcomed us and gave an exquisite rendition of the Curler's Prayer ( see Google translate for English version)
Tracy did the 4 Way test and Lina did the Innvocation.
We toasted Canada.
SAA Jim J. said we had 17 live Rotarians, Randy on Zoom and our very Special Guest, Cathy Everett.

Tracy has a birthday tomorrow and happily realized a math error. She will only be 49 tomorrow. Wow that is young.

50/50 Draw

The Toddler, ( someone said he is the Swiss Army Knife of our club...mmm) once again fell into the breech and became Johnny Smooth.
Tom the Editor and Rob Cox were losers.
Announcements
Some news about an online Auction in November that our club might partake in. This is a potential fundraiser. Randy will be looking in to it.
Heidi has resigned as Membership Chair in Keith's year.
There was some discussion about not enough volunteers from the club membership especially in the Community Services area.  ( I realize I am away a fair bit but often don't seem to know what our Board is thinking. I would say be Relentless about asking at our weekly meetings. Also people just don't come to the meetings due to work commitments etc. How do they know if they are needed to volunteer?)
Brian was all excited about a tech announcement. We have a Domain! Something to do with selling tickets for Boots and Bands. More to come.
Mr Swiss Army Knife was a super model, displaying the future Rotary Golf shirt.( stripes not included). Bingo people get a free shirt but we all need one to wear to events like the Lang's dinner so people know we are Rotarians.
Tracy talked about Boots and Bands occuring March 29th at the Newfoundland Club.  Tickets are now on sale....see the email.  If you have ' Smart Serve' please talk to Tracy.
Keith P. said we need silent and live auction stuff for B and B.  The tickets are a good price at $50.
Steve B. reminded us of Tacos e Tequila on May 2nd.
Just remember that while having a good time we are raising money to help people.

Club Opportunities
Larry is looking for speakers for 2025. Please help him with some ideas.
Also we are looking for some bulletin editors and volunteers. ( for just about anything.)

Good news
I mention Tracey's birthday tomorrow. She is so cuffed to find herself still young.
Editor Tom is/was wearing his Scottish head gear in honour of the curling talk.  He is happy to have Janet back from England. She brought him socks with the Union Jack logo, Yes he is a Sasenach!  ( see Outlander)
Jim is going to Naples where they make Putanesca Pasta.
Matt is continuing his world tour, heading for Spain.
Paul M is going to Mexico.
Todd is driving to Halifax and Ottawa to see his daughters.
Rob Cox thanked the club for the Flower arrangement, sent in earlier in January when his mom died.
Today's Program

Matt introduced our very own Tom Everett who spoke of his recent Curling Tour of Scotland. ( in November 24 I think)
Tom was dressed in his best Formal Curling Regalia, sporting a variety of pins, ties and definitely black shoes.
1956 was the first year  this Curling Exchange began, back and forth every two years except for Covid.
He had 8 different billets in his 21 days in Scotland.
There were 18 Canadian Curlers from Southern and Eastern Ontario.
A Quick review of Itinerary: Edinburgh and the Royal Mile, St Andrews near Dundee, Street Art in Aberdeen, Inverness at the top of Scotland, down to Ayr and it's golf courses, then Dumfries in the west known for Robbie Burns and Locherby..
Of course there were several wee drams along the way.  Lots of touring and fellowship. He visited the people that he and Cathy billeted when the Scots were over here in 2022. Life long friendships are made with Canadian and Scottish Curlers.
The Scots are very fussy about dress code. A mistake results in a fine....this money is a way of fundraising.
The Scots are wild about Maple Syrup and it was auctioned.
Scots are devious ( try to get the Canadian players hungover for the next day), generous, and don't understand Americans....just like us.
Tom is treasurer for the Canadian contingent and this is a lot of pre-trip work. Curlers pay their own pay over but our club sponsors the return trip of the Scots in 2026.
Tom was thanked by President Paul.
Todd had a joke about checking the Bank Balance of little old ladies.
Have a good week. See you at the next meeting.
