Stories
Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
There was lots of pre-meeting chat about sand and vacuum cleaners. How many Rotarians does it take to put up 2 basketball nets ?
Lady Gaga's rendition of the Star Spangled stole the show at the Inauguration along with the poetry reading.

Pres. Heidi opened the meeting, Randy did the 4 way test and we toasted the world after Covid.

Larissa said we had sixteen Rotarians in virtual presence along with our two guest speakers, Kevin and Brian.
50-50 Draw

None today. Joker Johnny is still counting dead birds.

Good News
Paul McMenemy had an email from the Toddler. Todd apparently has had some constructive visions about membership recruitment. We want to hear them.
Jeff Hunter thanked the Jonases ( Jonae?) for collecting coats and warm clothing for the needy.  Jeff said that he has recently totalled his car but is getting a great deal from Honda as a replacement.
Todd had to say something at this point. He said he has traded in his geriatric Toyota with 416,000 Km on it for a semi- geriatric Toyota with only 234,000 km on it. Sold the old one on Kijiji too. Now that is thrift.

Jokester
And we did have a joke today told by our resident Scotsman. It was a good one too. A golfer rolled his cart and a nice lady in the adjacent house wanted to take care of him. Did you know golf was invented by the Scots? Now you know why.

Announcements and Upcoming Events
Rena said that we were a sponsor for ' The Coldest Night of the Year' .  It is a fundraising walk and held on Feb 20th when the polar vortex will be maximum. Our club will be fielding a team and Rena will send us an email with more details.
Heidi said that Jeff and Larry, our speaker seeker team would like any help they can get the search for speakers at our meetings. Please suggest any speaker ideas that you may have.
Heidi also we are invited to a Club Visioning session on Jan 30th. Its virtual and I think she has already sent out the email.
She also said that Sunrise is having a Blood Donor drive and Magic Show. Please read Heidi's email. It is all there. The Magic Show and initial Blood Donor clinic is tomorrow at 7:30 am. There are several other opportunities to give blood up until Feb 14th.

Club Job Openings
Helping out our two ' Speaker Seekers' . Coming up with a good speaker every week is no easy task.
Program
Jeff Hunter introduced our speakers, Kevin Noseworthy and Brian Banks.
Kevin has worked in the non profit sector for 20 years and specializes in supporting the needs of children and their families. He works at Langs as their Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator.
Kevin spoke about the 2020 Community Holiday Dinner and Virtual Show. This was held on Dec 9th and our club was the "event sponsor." Our club members helped with the Virtual Show and curbside pickup." I think some Rotarians had a good time doing this.
Jeff has been able to hand out $50 gift certificates to needy families because of our financial support.

Brian's role at Nutrition for Learning is Commnity Development. Their mission is the well being of children and that they attend school well nourished. 38% of children do not have a good diet. Due to Covid the summer was spent handing out and increasing number of bagged lunches. In September volunteers could not go in to schools due to Covid so teachers and custodians did the in-school work. There are 150 in school programmes.

Our speakers were thanked by Rena.
It was noted that Paul McMenemy continues to wear his Langs Dinner Headgear and continues to be recognised throughout the community,

Some end notes. Heidi, don't forget to go to the bank.
I will be reporting from Whitehorse next week. I will not be doing the bulletin. And yes I do have a bio. But does anybody want to see it?
Stay safe. Cheers Tom S
