Today at the Islamic centre we got a tour of their facilities. We divided into 3 groups. In my case the principle Dr. Safdar Muhammed lead our tour.of The International School of Cambridge, This is a very modern private school Kindergarden to Grade 8. The building is new as this is thie first year of full time in person learning as opposed to virtual because of covid. Classrooms are hooked to internet and with white boards, Currently their enrollment is 240. students. They do follow the Ontario curriculum with some religious studies thrown in. Many of their students participate in science and mathematics fairs and win awards . They have a large gymnasium and a soccer field behind the school for physical activity. I asked Dr. Muhammed how much tuition was and his response was it is competitive with other private schools. Interesting enough there are 4 Islamic schools in the Cambridge Kitchener - Waterloo area. ( If you have to ask you might not be able to afford it then again you might be pleased with results.) There are plans to open a daycare that will be open to the public. I don't recall where this is exactly in the building. but the Islamic Centre is also a licensed funeral home. After lunch we were encouraged to introduce ourselves. Their members have immigrated to Canada and our now very proud Canadians that call Cambridge their home. We were all warmly welcomed to their community and i can testify that we all enjoyed ourselves. I didn't stay for prayers as I had roses to deliver. I didn't eat everything but I can assure you that he food was excellent. |
