Announcements
Paul's President's Levee is the afternoon of Sunday, February 25th in the party room, 6th floor of Tower One in the Gaslight Towers at 50 Grand Ave S. This is "a chance for members to honour Paul" and/or come for the free food and entertainment.   Commercial parking is available under the towers which is actually at ground level and can be accessed either off Glebe St or Grand Ave.  Make your way to either level of the 2 level entrances of the towers use the directories to call Jeff Hunter, Nancy Yule or Jerry Horochowianka and you will be buzzed into the building.  Make your way to the lobby and someone will greet you to take you to the party room.  Remember, this is in the residents' private condo towers, NOT in the District or public event spaces.
It's the Levi on Sunday. Starting time is 1 pm, I think. Tower 1, Park on Glebe St. It's on the 6th floor and Jeff or Nancy can buzz you in. Lots of names on the sign up today so lots of opportunity for fellowship. It will be a Scottish Ceilidh so who knows when it will end. They can go on for days.

Rena said there is a webinar on Human Trafficking. She will send a link.  It is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

Ivana said it is getting Hot. Not global warming but the Gala. This event supports Porchlight Mental Health Counselling. Paul Cody and Randy Cole won free entry by bringing copious amounts of wine to the recent Fireside.

Good news
Todd said he was happy that his two daughters were spending time together in Cuba. You are right Todd, life is busy and it is rare that the kids get together.

Erica is prepping for ' The Brawl in the Hall",  She is on the Red Team. Jim may be as well. Happens on April 12 at Tapestry Hall. $228,000 already raised , I think for Children's Hospital in Hamilton.  Go to  chanceforcharity.ca if you want to contribute/sponsor. Paul T. wondered if there would be under the table betting???
Erica had the work out of a lifetime recently in Florida, getting in shape for this event.

Paul McMenemy has a Grandson turning 13.
Scott Higgins coaches Girls Hockey. He was kicked out of the arena for complaining about the other teams rough play. But his team won.
Larry Brokenshire is  looking forward to being a speaker at a conference in BC. It is about addiction issues in industry.
Ryan was a dad for the second time 2 weeks ago. Mom was in hospital for a couple of weeks. They have another young boy so it is a busy time for them.

Matt continues his world tour. A 2 week break then off to chase the enigmatic white ball in a warm place with alligators.
Heidi has had two birthdays. She is 17 years old by her second birthday. Good on ya!
Today's Program
Wayne P. introduced our speaker, Philip Mills, CEO of Habitat for Humanity. (H4H)

H4H vision: a safe and decent place to live.
But also a place that the family can own, develop some equity which has a generational impact.
H4H holds the mortgage so it is a partnership.
In Waterloo Region , av rent is $2300/mo, av selling price of a house is $762,000.  This is not affordable for a family with an average income of $92,000.
The Shantz Hill H4H project is about to go ahead. There will b e 24 stacked townhouses. The focus is on families. H4H provides a more affordable mortgage at 25% of the families income

H4H is involved with other nonprofits in ' Build Now Waterloo Region"  The motto is ' Have land, will Build"  Cheap land is needed. The idea is to build 10,000 homes that will sell for half the regular market price.
Philip was thanked by Ryan.
Paul M's joke was about shop lifing cans of vegetables and fruit.  ' I eat my peas with honey, I've done it all my life, they taste kinda funny, but it keeps them on my knife.'
Rena ended the meeting with what to do around Cambridge this weekend. I missed most of it but there is a Business Networking event at Homewood Suites on Monday night.
And on Sunday, drive your Chevy to the Levi.
