Opening and Sgt @ Arms Report
There was a lot of chat and socializing before the meeting. Pavey, Law was having their Christmas meeting next door and I think they were billing us for their time.
But Harry Edgar and I had a serious chat about the meaning of life....we decided to leave the answer to Monty Python.

Prez Rena opened and gave a nod to our aboriginal bretheren whose land we live upon. I did the 4way test and we toasted the world of Rotary.

Nancy said there were 27 of us present and 4 guests. Harry Edgar was there plus 3 others. Lets call them Santa's elves.

Larry B has a birthday on the 27th. Bruce Flowers on the 1st of Jan.
There is an anniversary on Dec 30th but can't read my writing. Either Main or Mann. Congrats to whomever.
But the infamous Paul T Cody joined the Rotary Party on Jan 1st, 30 years ago. And that's for sure.
50/50 Draw
Johnny Dead Bird ran the draw. Harry Edgar who had just won the pot at Huntsville Rotary was asked to pick the first number. He did and no one had it? Eventually Raj Mann and Vanessa  were Looooosers.

Announcements

Tacos and Tequila is on Jan 25th. Some sponsorship opportunities available with a SPECIAL thank you to Katie for her corporate sponsorship.  Tickets are $75 or $125 per couple and there probably will be some vegan tacos to enjoy before engaging in a complimentary salsa lesson and enjoying a professional dance performance by some club members. More to come.

The Gala night at Tapestry Hall is April 5th.  Entertainment is a 17 piece orchestra accompanied by Dean MartinISH crooners. There will be a live a silent auction and many surprises that committee members are diligently working on.  Andrew had some amazing ideas which motived the committee through a very successful planning meeting on Dec 12. Sponsorship details will be released very soon..

Randy is looking for sponsors and volunteers for the upcoming Golf Tournament this spring.

Paul's President's Levy is the afternoon of Sunday, January 7 in the amenity room, Tower One in the Gaslight Towers at 50 Grand Ave S. This is "a chance for members to honour Paul" and/or come for the free food and entertainment.   Commercial parking is available under the towers which is actually at ground level and can be accessed either off Glebe St or Grand Ave.  Make your way to either level of the 2 level entrances of the towers and someone will be there to greet you and take you to the event space.  Remember, this is in the residents' private condo towers, NOT in the District or public event spaces.  If you get lost that day, text Jeff H at 519-580-3407 and he will send either a human or a St. Bernard to your rescue.   Lights will guide you!  I do not see a start time mentioned for the Levi.

Congratulations to Lovey as he welcomed his first born this week.  Lovey says we will get to meet his son Ali at the President's  Levi.

There is no meeting next week.
John says we can continue to drop off stuff for the Cambridge Shelter at Mennonite Furniture on Pinebush.
Blame Jeff Hunter for the above messy text as I stole some of his from last bulletin.

Club Opportunities
Need a Jolly Old Elf and a reindeer named Olive.
Good news
Lots of good news

Erica had a great hike in Patagonia.
Jim Mcpherson and Erica are training for their boxing match at Tapestry Hall on April 12th.
Chris Wood is back from a river trip down the Seine to Paris. This time too much water in the river so they had to bus parts of it.
Paul T Cody noted that he visited Hesperler.
Matt said he was travelling to Sweden on Boxing Day. Some sort of sporting event.
Lovey became a dad last week and we will see Abi at the Levi.

Keith was moved to tell a joke:  Why was Frosty the Snowperson ( he/she/ it/ them) going through a big bag of carrots??  To pick his nose!

Today's Program

Murray Pearson lead us through a bevi of Christmas Carols. We sang and acted out the parts in the 12 Days of Christmas. It was fun to be  geese a laying and swans a swimming  etc. We will not be invited to sing at Centre in the Square.

and now on with the Present Exchange. Heidi said there were 27 presents and we all had a number so there were no serious altrecations. But there was present trading, stealing and hiding. It was a riotous amount of fun.  And Il Presidente got her bird.

Prez Rena wished us all a Happy Holiday.

See you in the New Year for the Economic Forecast for 2024.
