  • Keith thanked the club and was very humbled by all the support from members that were able to attend visitation and funeral not to mention the donations that went to the Foodbank in memory of his Father in law.
  • Erica is travelling out East to visit family not flying - doing a road trip to Halifax with her two sisters - one along on the way there the other on the way back.
Today's Program
Prez Paul introduced our speaker,  the Executive Director Adults in Motion - Jennifer - and her enthusiastic team which included Maggie, Bryan and Jessica.
Adults in Motion have different locations in Kitchener, Oakville, Hamilton and Cambridge. They provide day Programs for people with disabilities that include fun activities, community and many volunteer opportunities. They open their doors 8:15am-4pm Monday to Friday.
Jennifer introduced Maggie who talked to us about her challenges and that she had speech impediment and was appreciated of all the special programs to help her with her confidence and reading capabilities. Maggie let us know about the different activities she likes and the friendships she has developed over the years in participating with Adults in Motion.
Jennifer gave us an idea of what the programs included - park clean up, trying to breed Monarch Butterflies, they participate in Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army around Christmas, they visit schools help with their art classes, volunteer at local farms, Foodbank and Shelters. You will see them at community center or YMCA as tour guides - off to tour Toyota - the programing really makes a difference providing inclusivity and purpose.
Bryan then came up to speak and he discussed their involvement in special activities - Basketball Game with the Titan's was definitely a favourite.
They also do Fundraising and they sell what they make on Etsy - this year they are combining locations and their art by selling a Christmas box. They also have an upcoming GLIMMER Ball to celebrate their 15 year Anniversary in the Community. Date is Saturday November 9th, from 2-6pm
Jessica wrapped up by giving the club a perspective on how she felt being involved in the sponsored programs available- and how special they made her feel.
Look up all the great work this organization does via social - insta or FB @adultsinmotion on social media.
What an engaging meeting- nothing better than hearing from those that participate and get so much out of the programming and opportunities.
You couldn't help but smile
Todd thanked the speaker and was hoping to have an opportunity to return to his younger days when he wasn't as follically challenged as he is today- the joke must have been from his younger days as well. cool
Be thankful and bring the magic of Rotary to someone over this weekend - enjoy the summer weather.
