Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
Pres Chad opened the meeting. Tom E did the Four Way test and Matt said the invocation. We did the toast.
Sergeant at Arms Report by Dr. Phil: 30 members and no visitors or guests.
50-50 Draw

Smooth Johnny J announced $510 to be won.  Brian and Johnny both failed to secure the pot.  The club let John know what he was.
Good News
Pres Chad's son Ethan and fiance have moved into their new house.
Jim J is going to Bermuda in a month.
Linda's son Jamie is doing some tough backpacking in New Zealand.  To make it tougher, the airline kept his backpack and other gear for a few extra days.  But it worked out in the end.
Noah's son Allan got a clean bill of health at his annual pneumonia checkup.  Great news!
Dean is back from Italy only long enough to tell us he's going to France.  He had lunch with Vince Ferragamo, former QB of Montreal Alouettes.
Tom E, Linda, and spouses, and Caitlin had dinner with Bob B, and picked up some prestigious awards.
Murray and Ida are going to Madison WI to curl with the Guelph team in the Rotary World's.

Announcements and Upcoming Events
Roger - This is the last week of Rotary International Foundation Month.  He encouraged monthly giving, which can be set up at https://my.rotary.org/en/donate for as little as $10 per month.  He also reminded us that 50% comes back to the District, for use in our own projects.
Rena - On Dec.17 from 4:45 to 7:30 we are serving dinner at The Bridges.  Donations for care packs are requested.
Paul TC - Cambridge North is selling cookies ($12), fruit cakes ($15), and hams ($40).  Sean Carragher is the guy to talk to if you don't have another link to that club.
Mike - We need at least one more bulletin editor, maybe two.  Quality journalism, once per month.
Brian W - The club is forming a tech committee to manage our information sharing, online store, social media, and online marketing.  Contact Brian if you can contribute.
Paul M - Paul is the new membership chair.  Thank you for filling out the member survey you got by email.  If you haven't done that yet, please do it.
Paul M - Reminded us of the meeting guest policy.  If you are bringing a guest as a serious prospective member, the club will cover the cost of their first visit.  If you are bringing a guest that is not really considering joining, then you pay for them on your GCC chit.  Free lunches for guests has been quite costly last year and this year.

Club Job Openings
This is a new bulletin section, advertising for members to fill executive positions and committee roles.  If you have a job opening, bring it up at a meeting and the bulletin editors will publish it here.
Bulletin Editor.  Once a month, write the bulletin and send it out to members.  It's easy, and a good chance to work on your creative writing.  Bulletin editors are exempted from pod membership so they don't have to administer meetings or come early to run the check-in desk.  Contact Mike Thomas for more details mthomas@managingenergy.com
Tech Committee.  The club is forming a tech committee to manage our information sharing, online store, social media, and online marketing.  Contact Brian Waddell brian@waddelleng.com if you can contribute.

Program
Today was the annual club assembly to present our financials.
Noah gave the overview of FY2019.  The club is in good shape.
Tom E moved to approve FY2019 financial reports, Mike seconded, and the motion was approved by member vote.
Tom E then gave the FY2020 budget, which is similar to last year but adjusted for our membership increase.
Larry moved to approve the FY2020 budget, Chris W seconded, and the motion was approved by member vote.
Members who were not present can request financial statements from Noah or Tom.

Aside from financials, there was discussion on a couple of topics of general interest.
  • Given our strong financial position, club executive is considering taking on a major project in addition to the causes we support each year.  More on that soon.
  • Attendance.  Rotary International and our District look at club attendance levels when deciding on supporting projects.  When you take part in a rotary event (any event organized by our club or another club) it can count as a meeting.  Use the Member Alternate Participation link on the front page of our website rotarycambridge.ca
