GOOD NEWS:
Last week, Erica won the pot. First time in 31 yrs. She was so happy that she got a speeding ticket and made a donation to WRP. Easy come, easy go?
Tracy made a pitch for us to take on her two sons. They are a big asset to any home...They eat a lot, play loud music and are very messy. Yea!
Harry Edgar said he won the 50/50 draw in Waterloo. He said Randy did a good job on the auction and that the Magnotta gift card went to a good home.
Please note that Keith emailed us an attached file on Doug Vincent's talk about the Rotary Foundation.
Doug belongs to Woodstock-Oxford Rotary Club. His family is in the Farm Machinery business. He has been an amazingly committed Rotarian and has been involved at all levels.
He has been chair of the Rotary Peace Committee and UN Ambassador for Rotary.
He showed us how the Foundation works on a district and international level by turning $5 of Erica's winnings into $20 via the grant process. John Jonas wondered why it did not come out as an American $20. It's a mystery.
He urged us to give to the Foundation but also use the grant process. By giving we can work towards a Paul Harris Fellow.
Only 40% of Rotarians give to the Foundation. ( not to be confused with our own club Foundation).
He shared some stories: When he was Interpol liason he found that the Human Trafficing chair was a Rotary Peace Fellow. He saw heart surgery on kids in India supported by Rotary. He saw an elderly Mexican lady see her grand kids for the first time after eye surgery supported by Rotary. etc.
Doug was thanked by Todd. It is Club Assembly next week so don't bring a guest. Bring Socks.
