Bill Proctor , member of Kitchener Rotary since 2000, many committees, DG in 2016-17, pres of his club 2009 and long time supporter of this venture. Darren Sweeny, Kitchener Rotary Member since 2011, supporter of inter-club committee for this online auction. Active supporter of the Rotary African Women's Education Fund. This fundraiser has raised millions for clubs in s. Ontario. Their club has been involved for ten years...about 200K raised. The clubs share professional auction software. The clubs procur the items through the year, items are entered on the website, auction goes live in November of each year. More clubs= more items=more money raised. So: 1/ Procurement. 2/ Doners. 3/Logistics, storage, distribution of items. 4/ online bidding. ( $50. minimum value) And there is marketing done by the clubs. Donation letters, social media, lawn signs. An Item donation and sponsorship form is critical. Item description is critical. Be professional knocking on doors and wear Rotary Logo. The donor is recognised on the website. Track donors for next year. Good donors are people that you have done business with ie contractors, dentists etc. Restaurant gift certificates , tickets to sporting events are good, Gift baskets and spa stuff are less good.
