The gala is on Friday, April 5th.   There still are tickets available; please consider getting yours and supporting Rotary, Porchlight Counselling and Addiction Services, the community and the efforts of all the hardworking gala committee members.  This year's gala aligns with the 2023-2024 theme: by offering hope and support, Rotary aims to improve mental health services and break the stigma surrounding seeking assistance.

Jeff did such a good job with last weeks announcements I will leave them in.  Toddler has been asked to M.C. the trivia night and is taking donations (bribes).
I think Veterans Golf tickets are going on sale April 6th. Credit Card or e-transfer preferred.
District Conference is May 11th and early bird ticket prices end March 30th.
Dr Tom said there was a zoom video about Monarch Butterflies , their incredible life cycle and their threatened habitat. The young eat milkweed so grow some in your back yard.  But that zoom was last night. It was good.
also April 22nd is Earth Day. A committee headed by Dean Fitzpatrick of Cambridge North are formulating some plans as we focus on the environment and mess we humans are making.

Club Opportunities
Go forth and “Create Hope in the World.”  This 2023-2024 theme calls upon Rotarians to inspire or restore hope through the projects they champion.

Again, thanks Jeff.
Good news
Todd's shiner looks a lot better today.
Heidi as decided to buy a motorcycle for her trips around Austria. This will be #3 motorcycle. Ya, ein Beiwagenmachine. The twins can ride in the side car and you can re-enact the Great Escape.
But Brian W. has bought a cargo bike with a child seat. Hey Brian, now it is a slippery slope to that beige Dodge Caravan smelling of rotting MacDonald's burgers.
Today's Program
Wayne P. introduced Lillie Proksch. She is the Prevention and Community Engagement Specialist for Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. She works in social media and community education. She is known fro spearheading the ' She is your neighbour ' project and Podcast.
Their vision is a community free of violence in all its forms.
Here are some stats: 1 in 3 women world wide are abused, usually by their partner. 70-80 % of violence is not reported. Every 5.5 days a women in Canada is killed by her intimate partner. Every 84 minutes WR police receive a call about domestic violence.
..... do the math, look around the room. ( my comment).

WCS offers shelter, outreach, 24/7 phone support and online chat which is a safe option.
Anselma House and Haven House  offer counselling  and connection to other services such as Fand CS, youth and Addiction services.
There are new focuses on Prevention, Men's Programmes etc.
We had several questions for Lillie.
Lille was thanked by Ryan and Rena.

Big things are happening next meeting. Bring bottles of wine for the Gala. Those without mismatched socks today have to bring two bottles.
Nancy is up for her 'who am I '.  The District Governor will visit next week and Paul M. is preparing a fine series of jokes for the occasion.
Don't forget the Solar Eclipse in 2 weeks'
Bye y'all.
