Today's Program
Jim McPherson introduced Chris Pronger  Executive Director Of the Literacy council of Waterloo.  .  This organization is partially funded by the Government , fund raising and a small amount of fees for service,

Chris provided a few interesting points,

24% of all adults are functionally illiterate.  .  This means they may have trouble paying bills , following medication, reading signs  or operating phones , tablets computers etc,

The literacy council support and provide programs in  Reading, Writing, Numeracy, Work place Skills and computer and Digital Literacy.

Adults require a level 3 in numeracy skills to function /  53% of adults score below level 3

In 2016 17 81 % of students passed their literacy test  in Grade 12.  .  This means approximately  20 % of adults now entering their 20 "s  do not have the necessary literacy skills..  Those that have poor literacy are twice as likely to have poor health which costs every one.  .
Paul Mcenemy thanked the speaker and Todd as per custom will vacinate 10 willing children for polio.

Prez Todd ended the meeting with a joke with the literacy of Level of 1 so we could all understand it.
