Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Jim opened the meeting, Matt Morris said the 4 Way test and Tom S. said the innvocation.
Randy Cole was SAA. There were 22 Rotarians present and 3 guests; Dr Hank Nykamp, guest of Mark, Bob Bedford , a retired Rotarian  who brought his own guest, Gloria Cardoso.
Health and Good Cheer
No official report. But I think Paul T said he had had an MRI and all was well. Or was it the other Paul?  I'm not sure but it was good news anyway.
50-50 Draw
John Jonas was in good form today and ran the draw. He had 'multicultural tickets' today. Randy and Jim Johnston were both ' Loooozers'.
Good News
Mark Nykamp said he finally has his own Country Club #. No more free lunches on the old man. Maybe Hank came to celebrate?
Bob Benson had ten dollars for good news. Five dollars for his guest, Gloria who he thinks should join Rotary and five dollars because Jim McPherson owes him a beer. Bob is volunteering at the curling bonspiel.
Paul T Cody played in a Honeymoon Bonspiel and they won.
Tom S. said that he was going on holiday to Barcelona and Southern France. Back in 3 weeks,
Erica said that she had been to a great conference in Atlanta.
Jokester
Paul said it was not a joke today. It was an unfortunate story about a doctor losing his license over an indiscretion with a patient. But he was a Vet.
Announcements and Upcoming Events
I will stick the ' Membership Minute' in here:
Sandra Pelltier did her minute. She had been sponsored into our club by Paul T Cody. She enjoys her work publishing three neighbourhood magazines in Cambridge. She will be featuring some of our own Rotarians in the upcoming months. She has lived in Cambridge for six years, loves it here and would not go back to live in Toronto. Her husband works in the ' bacon ' industry.  She has 2 grand kids and her husband has seven grand kids.

announcements: Matt said bring your Bonspiel prizes when you come on March 1st.
Erica said bring family and friends to the Bonspiel.
Linda Breault reminded us about sponsorship for the May 14th Golf Tournament.
Heidi meant to be here but she was in a small MVA. She is OK  but will probably sparkle for a couple of days. She reminded Jim Mc Pherson to mention the Fireside which is happening at Wrinkle Walk ( Riverwalk condos) on Feb 27th at 6 pm.

Program
Our speaker today was our very own Erica. She was introduced by Joslin.
She spoke about Rotary International in order that we may be less confused about the hierarchy of Rotary.
Countries with the most Rotarians are the US, India, Japan, S. Korea, and Germany.

Rotary International and Rotary International Foundation are separate legal entities but essentially function as one.  ( Our  club has its own foundation, with its own board and has no direct connection to Rotary International Foundation. Noah spoke to us recently about that.)

We support Rotary International with our dues and Rotary Foundation through voluntary contributions. The money given to support a Paul Harris Fellow goes to Rotary International Foundation.

91% of RIF money is spent  in these six areas. Clubs get some of this money to spend on these areas of service through Global Grants. $265 million was spent this last year. Of that 108 M went to polio plus, 73M to global grants, 26M to district grants etc.
These areas are 1/ Clean Water, 2/ Basic Education Support, 3/Disease Prevention and Treatment ie HiV, Dementia research and Polio Plus   4/ Saving Mothers and Children 5/ Peace and conflict resolution.6/ Economic and Community Development.

Consider RIF if you are in a position to make a charitable donation.
Thanks Erica.
Our Prez had 2 more announcements: There will be a Rotary Leadership Conference I think on March 1st at the former Holiday Inn in Cambridge. Contact Jim if interested,
June 28 is District Changeover. It will be held at the Yacht Club on Toronto Island. There will be some top notch speakers.
