Pres. Cayley showed up this week and opened the meeting.  Pat read the 4 way test and Noah said the blessing.

24 members present, 1 visiting rotarian  Ken Hamill , and 0 guests.
No specific Health and good cheer but President Cayley mentioned in announcements that Jim McKenzie's wife had died. Jim is well known in curling circles.
There was no 50/50 Draw
Members from the other clubs had had trips to China and Iceland.
President Cayley said we had had another very successful Best Bites and thanked the Committee. She also said something about the Chamber Golf Tourney but I missed it.
Our President reminded  us of our board meeting on September 21st at Jim J's in Riverwalk. Maybe Jim can fire out directions so we don't get lost.
Also Cayley reminded us to sell and or buy Rotary Roses.

Larry Hardman and our Patrick Campbell stood up to present the 2015 Super Hero/ Fun Run cheque for $40,000 to Kids Ability represented by Lisa Talbot and Anne Vanexen. Way to go Patrick! Lisa spoke briefly of new programmes made possibe at Kids Ability such as the Autism Programme at Langs.
Bill Proctor presented the Rotary Classic Cup to Cambridge North for raising the most per Rotarian at the Fun Run. (Probably helps to have less members in your club if you do the math but quite possibly sour grapes on my part as well)

There was no joke today
Our guest speaker was Abigail Bimman from CTV news in Kitchener. She has  won a number of awards for her writing including articles on the Women's Prison and on Head Injuries.
She volunteers for the Institute for the Blind as well.
She gave us an inside look at the TV News Business.
She spoke about how ' breaking news' was handled and used the recent fire at Dollerama as an example. Her work often involves spending time in difficult conditions such as inhaling smoke, taking heat from police who do not like her investigating some crimes and also trying to get updates out of persons in charge of the situation.
She was thanked by Mike Lawrie.

At the end of the Meeting John Jonas finally got a little time to present his Hammerschott display and remind the other clubs about Oktoberfest.  Yaa.

Twas the night before Oktoberfest and all through the Haus,
Not a creature was stirring not even a mause.
Herr Mamma and Herr Pappa were both snug in their bed,
And visions of summer sausage danced in their heads.

When out in das barnyard there arose such a clatter,
Herr Pappa arose to see what was the matter.
And what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But Jonas' Hammerschott and Twelve Kinds of Beer.

Yaa.
