So we sat out on the patio behind the Coping Centre and had a lovely box lunch from EVO catering. Lunch arranged by Sandra. Sandra Peltier introduced our host and hostess, Glenn and Roslyn Crichton. They started the Coping Centre in 1990 after their daughter died of Leukemia. They felt there was a great need to help people deal with their grief after losing a family member, partner or someone close to them.. Coping stands for ' Caring for other people in grief.' They have programmes for children five and up, teens, adults and those dealing with a suicide death. They have 120 to 150 participants per week. Part of their mandate is education. Understanding grief is important. The Coping Centre is a safe place to express grief which is not easy in the regular world. They do have followup programmes. This comes with no cost to the participant. And they do not get government support. So they have to Fund Raise. They were thanked by Megan Davidson. |
