President Katie opened the meeting.
We sang O Canada and Jim Johnson's iPad said Grace.

Heidi was SAA and we had 28 members present. No Guests.
George S. said that Bill Mitchell is feeling better and plans to spend more time at Rotary.  Dennis is also feeling better (again).
Hosted by Kevin, total pot was $58.50. Wilf Reich won the draw.

Larry B. produced a cheque from Aecon for $300 for Kids Ability. This money will be run (pardon the pun) through Patrick's Superhero event for obvious reasons.
Jim Johnson announced that the Beverage Card business was good.
Erica said the she was challenging her friend Kristen from Cambridge North to bring in the most sponsorship dollars for the Superhero Run. She said something about a pajama party that Mike Thomas mentioned in the last bulletin. Dennis and Erica apparently attended the party, or am I just making too much of an ugly rumor.

John Jonas said that Fritz and Franz were donning their high heels to partake in the YWCA Walk a Mile in My Shoes function on May 30th. Their suffering is to promote Oktoberfest. To learn more tune in to: wamwr.com on your personal device.
Mike Thomas said he joined the Fun Run/ Superhero team and had no trouble getting sponsorships.
Heather Cooper said it was great to be back at our rotary meeting but this may be the last time she attends. We will miss you Heather.
Heidi is getting a motorcycle and said motorcycles are more reliable than men....probably more fun too. But is she going to wear a patch??

Erica gave us the ' Spiel' on Best Bites. It is a gala garden party that happens in September. We team up with Cambridge Memorial Hospital. This year the date is September 13th. About 350 people attend and $75,000 is raised. This is split with CMH. So it is our big fund raiser. 12-15 restaurants take part. It is $125/ ticket. We get to dress up and this year the theme is the Wild West. Media Kick off is Thurs June 17th at the Lone Star. So let's saddle up and ride on into town ( Shades Mills) for a good time.

Patrick gave us some history and an update on the Fun Run/ Super Hero event. It is in it's 29th year and has raised over a million dollars over those years for Kids Ability. We raised $40,000 last year. You can dress up as a Superhero but no high heels on the day of the race. Individual fund raising is going strong, we need more individuals to sign up on line. Don't forget the 3 club challenge. Volunteers should show up at 8:30....and that is this coming Sunday. So the Superhero Fun Run is almost here.

Paul T. reminded us of the President's Ball on June 19th. 37 rotarians have signed up so far and we need 60. The band is Inuendo. It is a popular and well known local band.

Oktoberfest: Kevin said spread the word. You can follow it on Twitter and there is a Facebook page. Twitter Handle is  @bavariahaus.

Noah said he  would ' hit the financial highlights ' for us today. So this is an interim report with a final full scale performance in October.
In short, we had good revenue growth and stability. Also good liquidity.
Here is a breakdown of the sections, apparently in brief.

Membership: Meal revenue up due to membership so we have a surplus

Charitable fund: Best Bites revenue down, Oktoberfest rev. up slightly, Roses rev. up slightly. Curling Bonspiel same. Bottom line= about the same.
Delivery to programmes under Charitable fund: Community Services: new floor for Argus house will use up the rest of budget.
International Services: slightly over budget due to exchange rate of $.
Vocational Service: some $ remains in budget due to under- spending.
Charitable Donations: under budget as well.
Charitable Foundation: Revenue generation is consistent with previous years. Looks like we have some cash left over and investments are doing OK.

Chris Wood pointed out that the money we make in Katie's year goes toward expenditures in Cayley's upcoming year, and so on and so on.
Also we have too much money in our Membership account but Paul T. will try and sort this out.

And a big thanks goes out from our table to Paul T. who was at the next table and ordered a big plate of greasy succulent onion rings. First he played onion ring Frisbee with us but that was not enough so he ordered us our very own plate. Lord of the Rings ?

Directors and committee chairs are encouraged to add their content to our website, and I'm happy to point them to online training.  It's not so tough once you get into it.
A lot of the stuff that gets send around by email would really be more useful on our website, where members, prospective members, and the community can see what we do.
Email me if you're not sure how to get started.
