NEW MEMBER INDUCTION!!!

Sukhi, guest of Roger, was inducted as our first new official member to the Satelite club - welcome Sukhi!

Sandra P introduced our guest speaker Dan Walsh

- Dan was a professional touring guitarist for many years
- in 2010 he joined Cambridge Live Music which was a group dedicated to getting the word out around Cambridge of where live performances were happening
- Guitars for Kids was a program under this umbrella, and Dan became President in 2013
- basically they receive donated guitars, fix them up if necessary, and redistribute to kids in the community who will benefit from having some music in their lives.  Dan shared a couple stories of just how meaning full their gifts have been.
Some guitars, if in too poor of condition to be played again, are used for their Art Guitar program; their painted up beautifully, then displayed in music stores around the community to build awareness of the program.  After a year or so, these guitars are auctioned off to help raise funds.
The program has branched out to Toronto and Red Dar Alberta - every community could benefit from such an organization.
They couldn't operate without the generous support of Franklin Self Storage, Pavey Law, and Drouliard Accounting - all providing free services
They were the successful recipients of a guitar provided by Chris Hadfield - which really put the group on the map
Their guitars can be accessed at the Bridges, and at the local Idea Exchanges.

Their annual fundraiser is on November 17, at 'Rhythm and Brews', it's a Sunday afternoon, 1pm  - 4pm, for all ages, and there will be a silent auction for this year's 'guitar art' that is being retired.

Jim J thanked Dan for coming out, followed by President Chad.
