Health and Good Cheer
George mentioned that he had seen past member Del Huntley at Tim Horton's this morning. He also mentioned that Del would be happy to hear from members and encouraged those who know him to call.  George also attended the Celebration of Life memorial for Claudette Millar last week and announced that a memorial for former member and Past President Gerry Barrett will be held in May. Of interest: Gerry was President back in 1978 when George was inducted.

Program This Week
Sandra introduced speakers Joe-Ann McComb and Amy Slack of the Kinbridge Community Association (KCA). Joe-Ann has been Executive Director of KCA for the past 10 years. Amy is the Community Services Manager. Both women were clearly passionate about the community work being done by the KCA and emphasized their mandate to be all inclusive and to work with the community using a very grass roots approach.
The KCA works with children, youth and adults and advocates for the rights of all individuals to reach his/her full potential. Last year they had 4 camps and over 900 campers. Joe-Ann shared stories about the youth programs, including the Art Festival, Just play'n and Pick up soccer. They have also been helping to develop leadership skills through their LEAD Camp which has had over 500 graduates to date. Amy discussed the Family Resource program and her experiences at the Southwood office. Services are highly individualized and tend to include provision of food and well as counseling on site. Counselors are often able to help access funding for further education and vocational training. She also shared stories about the two community gardens what features 83 fruit and nut trees and very colourful benches painted by youth.
The KCA works with all 10 Neighbourhood Organizations in Cambridge. Other partners include funders, collaborators and residents consisting of volunteers, youth and businesses.
Tony thanked our speakers and expressed his lifelong desire (perhaps even an actual fantasy) to be a member of a gang. Pres Cayley gave the official Rotary thanks.
