President Rajbir shared some personal insights and video messages from leaders within Rotary today. Both related to our fellowship's spirit of service and organizational structure. In particular President Rajbir oted the high level of commitment as well as the long road of service - locally and globally - of our current and upcoming leaders. The first video shared a message from RI President Elect Elect Jennifer Jones and is 3 minutes long. As a reminder, Jennifer Jones hails from the Windsor area and, in July of 2022, will be our first female RI President. Her video, presented during a general session of our most recent RI Virtual Convention, is on the My Rotary website. It's a bit fiddly to access and can't be shared as a general link or embedded video through ClubRunner (sigh). The general gist of her message is that our diversity in Rotary is a key component in making our fellowship as powerful as it is. In other words used in the video, "Different is Always Better." This second 15 minute video comes from our current RI President, Shekar Mehta and is well worth watching. Highlights include mention of the year's theme Serve to Change Lives and his proposed guiding mantra of "DO MORE GROW MORE." President Mehta's goal is to grow our membership and he has coined the motto of "Each One Bring One" as a way of reminding each Rotarian to invite someone to a Rotary meeting. He will also be promoting Rotary Days of Service and special programs to empower girls during his term as RI President. His presentation is filled with personal stories, inspiring quotes and a sharing of his own view, "Service is the rent I pay for the space I occupy on this earth." His message is a bit easier to find online. Please take the time to find out more about RI President Mehta at President Rajbir closed the meeting at 1:12pm. Join us next week as one of our newer members, Ann-Marie Athavale-Belanger, gives her Who Am I talk. Note that in President Rajbir's absence, the meeting will be facilitated by the Heidi and Todd Roadshow (NOT to be confused with the Heidi and Rodd Toad Show which was recently been banned in 6 provinces and one territory). Happy Long Weekend Folks! |
