Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Chad opened the meeting . We had 22 members present, and two guests, Belinda Karahalios, our speaker and also Peter Kuhn who was on screen and I think part of Belinda's entourage.
President Chad did the 4 way test and did the toast to Queen and Canada.

Johnny Smooth was mentioned in passing. There are big expectations of Johnny once we materialize again and can have regular Rotary meetings.
50-50 Draw

There was no 50/50 draw, which means Paul T. saved another $40 this week. And he will spend this money at the Halfway House at the course at GCC. It is hot Paul so don't get dehydrated!

Good News
Some of the good news was announced in our social time.

Rena said that her sister Dana who lives in Calgary, will be coming back east to surprise their dad on Father's Day.
She said that our work visit to the Coping Centre went well and she may schedule some monthly return visits. I think we all enjoyed working in the garden and painting windows and the shed. There is lots to be done. Hope they remembered to water the ferns.

Tom S. and his partner Janet spent their 47th Wedding Anniversary at the Benmiller Inn near Goderich on June 16th. First dinner out on the patio since covid.

Chad and Family spent time at a cottage on Healey Lake in Muskoka. He won it as a best bites auction item and had a great time. He recommends it if it comes up again.

Todd wants us all to know that he will be doing the Super Hero Run all alone this year. I think this is a great idea. Why should I dress up in a weird costume and get all hot and sweaty if Todd is going to do it. ( Todd, just because you are running alone still means you have to wear....something). Please refer to Todd's email.

Announcements and Upcoming Events
Chad said please pay your dues by June 30th. Email Tom E. if there are issues.

Sadly Chad announced the death of Wilf Reich on June 15th. He was a long term member of our club and will be fondly remembered. He made a donation to our club to be used to help fledgling business enterprises. He had an interest in people with developmental disabilities and supported Guelph Community living. He supported International Projects and won several Paul Harris'. Our condolences to his family. We have sent a donation to Guelph Community Living.

Heidi said that the 2020 Rotary Convention is cancelled. But the virtual convention starts this Saturday so please partake in a workshop. It is free. Heidi sent us all an email on how to join. Remember that UTC time is 4 hours ahead of us so 8 am is early.
Heidi said that Leslie Barmania  is asking all of us to donate the cost of a missed Rotary Meal ($15) to the Gates Foundation Polio Match. I think Bill G. will match what Rotarians donate. It is pocket change for him and Polio Plus is running a bit short. Donate at rotary.org/myrotary.  There was a link to a June 10 webinar but I think it has expired.
Also soon to be President Heidi said there is a Virtual District 7080 Changeover on June 23rd at 630 pm. Register at https//www.rotary7080.org/  (or something like that).

Club Job Openings
This section is advertising for members to fill executive positions and committee roles.  If you have a job opening, bring it up at a meeting and the bulletin editors will publish it here.

Sorry folks. If you are sitting at home twiddling your thumbs there is nothing being offered today. Be patient.
Program
..
Paul McMenemy introduced Belinda Karahalios, our guest speaker. Belinda is presently a member of the Provincial Parliament and also Parliamentary Assistant to the Solicitor General. She has worked in healthcare and also dealt with the child welfare system and family violence.
She was here to talk about Bill 150 which she introduced in November 2019 and which received unanimous support of all parties on Dec 12, 2019.
You can read about Bill 150 on Google. It is not about what happens on election night when we go to the polls. It is about what happens within a political party when it elects a candidate to run in an electoral district or when said political party elects their president.
She made 3 points: 1// reporting requirements to prevent electoral fraud. That would be transparency and a higher standard within the political party.
2// That a candidate can contest the validity of an election.
3//That it is an offence to interfere with an internal party election.

Belinda comes across as sincere and hardworking in her quest to change the election process within parties for the better. I am sure we will be hearing more about her.
Thanks Belinda.
