Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
Well, what can I say. It was Vanessa, Randy and me on Zoom. We had time to chat.

President Rajbir opened the meeting. Rena did the 4 way test.
President Rajbir did the toast to Rotarians around the world and our country, Canada. He had some wise words as well.

I did not hear the SAA.

50-50 Draw

We did have a draw. Jonas Bonus, the Madd Mennonite and purveyor of dead chickens was in fine form.
$130 bucks in the kitty and both Paul Cody and Brian Waddell were Losers.

Announcements and Upcoming Events
Rena reminded us of the Coping Centre Cleanup this Sunday. Work starts around 9am, lunch at noon.

Todd said that the deadline for the Rose Campaign is now passed. The club sold 280 dozen. ( Well I did sell ten dozen but failed to tell Todd. I went grovelling to Lisa at the flower shop and she said Ok.)  so 290 doz. Todd will send some sort of email to the vendors next week.

Paul M. reminded us of the Vet's Golf tournament on Oct 4th at Whistle Bear. They have the numbers so sign up soon to have any chance of joining.

Randy spoke of the ' Hole in One Prize' that Vanessa has organized for this golf tournament. I cannot believe this! Blackbridge Harley will be sponsoring the Hole in One. The winner will receive a Harley Davidson or 30K toward a new bike. Thank you Vanessa.

Paul Cody thanked Sukhi Gill for hosting the barbeque last weekend. I was there. It was great. Sukhi is an avid fisherperson and landed several large coho salmon for the feast. Thankyou.

Chris Wood spoke to the group. On zoom she was a distant speck and little or no sound. I think it was about having the family up at the cottage and feeling a measure of safety from Covid.

Club Job Openings
Go for it!
Program
Paul Cody introduced his son in law, Matt Lantz, who did his ' Who am I' .
( We are giving Matt a real workout as he was the MC at last week's Cluster Meeting and represented our club in a stellar fashion.)

Matt said he was many things: Family Man, Sports Fanatic, University Grad.,  all round great guy and Financial Manager just to name a few.
He introduced his family. The lovely Jenn Cody and two great kids. I had a great conversation with Jenn at the Cluster meeting.
Matt did play for the Winter Hawks, then got in to golf and other hobbies.
Went to school at GCI and then off to university. His Great Grandfather was mayor of Galt.
So he went  to university and got an engineering degree . He also did a stint at Sun Life.( I don't think this was a long term thing).  He got a job for an engineering company that involved travelling all over North America and doing environmental testing on water etc.
He wanted a job that involved less travel so he got into financial management and now runs his own company.
He now manages wealth and develops insurance strategies. Also does retirement planning.
Business has been good in Covid. I guess these crisis make people realize their vulnerability and consider their investments and insurability.
Rajbir thanked Matt. He said that Matt was an outgoing person, a trait that is very important in the finance business.
Matt, Thankyou for a Toastmasterful presentation.

So live meeting and zoom do not seem to mix well, especially when you are trying to do the bulletin via zoom. It was hard to hear and also hard to feel part of the meeting. A lesson learned!
