Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Paul opened the meeting, Florence recited the 4 way test and Jim McPherson gave the invocation.
Jeff Hunter was SAA. There were 25 Rotarians present including Dr Mike Laurie from Cambridge Sunrise. There were 3 guests, Aiden Brokenshire, our speaker and Larry's grandson, Mike Erwin and Daniel Radford ( not sure that this surname is correct)

Health and Good Cheer
No  health and good cheer.
50-50 Draw
Mark officiated. The pot is now $543. Ben Jeffries and Aiden Brokenshire pulled the lucky tickets but alas no Ace.
Good News

Linda informed us of a dinner she was recently at. A " Room full of Women" sit down to dinner and each donate $100. Each year the evenings take is given to some lucky local charity and in this case it was the ' Cambridge Firefighters Basket Fund' that received $25,000.

John Jonas spoke of and Xmas function at the Alpine Club in Kitchener. This is obviously another post-Oktoberfest event and a few of our club members attended. A Very good time was had by all.But John was the hit of the evening. He wore a hat with horns, a red boa and red nightie, lederhosen and fishnet stockings. So what we have here is a horney furniture-maker in drag. He won a medal for best costume. Years of fine-tuning our club have come to this! Jim J had it right when he said we all need a glass of wine and an appointment for therapy.
Jokester Paul
Paul the Joke Guy was here today. It was about silk pyjamas, fidelity  and fishing. I must say that it got some polite giggles but it was not up to Paul's usual standard , it being a bit beige or burgundy or whatever.
Paul confessed that he had the real joke vetted by Jim McPherson ( who apparently knows a thing or two about good jokes) and it was considered unsuitable.( mostly for guests, visiting chancellors and Rotary officials)
I did get to hear the real joke after the meeting. It was definitely up to standard.

Announcements and Upcoming Events
President Paul made some announcements: Christmas Luncheon on Dec 15th at our regular time. There will be enhanced fare and a Barbershop Quartet but no gift exchange. President's Levy is on Jan 8th and there is the Bridges Dinner night which I mentioned in the last bulletin.

Florence said that she went to a conference on the w/e with Rebecca and Linda to learn about getting more money for our club. It was worthwhile. I think this may have related to Pedro's talk last meeting about topping up our contributions to projects with matching $s from District Rotary and Rotary International.

Dr Mike Laurie came bearing a violin to inform us of the ' Cambridge Symphony Orchestra'. Mike has retired and is now on the Symphony Board. They have some great performances coming up...their Christmas Performance is this Saturday, Dec 3rd and then the Nutcracker on Dec 16th. It is not for profit and most events are ' pay what you can'. A great way to enjoy the season in a local fashion.

Program
Larry Brokenshire introduced his Grandson Aiden who is our guest speaker.
Aiden spoke of his wonderful trip to England and France with MEI International Academy. Their mission is to teach students about the world by visiting and exploring countries  then doing homework each day on-line.
Aiden mentioned the memorable points of his trip such as playing ultimate frisby in the courtyard of the Louvre, making it into a bar in downtown Paris inspite of the world cub. Also being fascinated by how small the famous Mona Lisa was in real life.
Then off to London and a play at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. Then a visit to Abbey Road and then on to the Lake District where the group did hiking and learned about certain writers. Probably not Beatrix Potter.
The group experience ended in Edinburgh where it rains a lot and people's computers got wet and quit.  Then the final 3 hr exam which Aiden did and then somehow got lost or deleted in transit. Google was able to retrieve it.
He said this trip was the best experience of his life.
I thanked for his talk.

Next week is Jeff Hunter doing his ' who am I'.
