Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Rajbir called the meeting to order

Ivana Schibono read out the 4-Way Test, Rena Hawkins did the Invocation, and Paul McMemeny paid a tribute to Jim McPherson's mother, Margaret, who recently passed away. Margaret was a lifelong Rotarian, Polio survivor and Paul Harris Fellow recipient. President Rajbir offered a toast to Margaret, Rotary and Rotarians around the world.

SAA Jim Johnston reported 17 members in attendance (including three attending by Zoom) as well as our guest speaker,  Julie Dreisinger.
50-50 Draw

Chris Wood ran the 50/50 draw. Members Neil Main and our very own Toddler increased our chance of winning the pot next week.

FUN FACT: Members Chris Wood and Paul T Cody joined our club on the same day back in 1994!

Good News
President Rajbir acknowledged Canada's First National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and referenced the 94 Calls to Action. Club members stood for a Moment of Silence to honour the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families and communities.

Good News:

Paul T was one of the team members from the GCC's final pick to attend a day of golf in London this week. Paul sunk a putt on the 18th hole, scoring a birdie and leading his team to victory for the day!

Brian Waddell has been involved with the Cambridge Rowing Club which now has 40 University students on board (or should that be afloat?). These students are dedicated enough to actually be showing up early for their 5:30am practices! This week they will race through the canals in Trent.

Chris Wood continues to savour her life of retirement and will be enjoying time with friends visiting from the UK for the next few weeks. Chris promises to be back in time for curling.

Program
Larry Brokenshire introduced today's speaker, Julie Dreisinger, Program Manager for the Business & Education Partnership (BEP) of Waterloo Region. The BEP is a local charity that helps youth in grades 7 to 12 explore their career options and make informed decisions to manage their career journey. Since 2002,  the BEP has connected over 100,000 students to career exploration, skill development and networking opportunities with over 4,000 industry professionals.

Julie gave a terrific presentation on some of their programs. Their ICE Challenge  is designed for students in grades 11 and 12 and it provides participants with a series of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship activities. Approximately 300 youth will participate in 6 virtual challenges in 2021-22. Their Explore Your Future program brings local youth, parents, and community members together to share insights into setting and achieving career goals so that students can determine their next steps. They also have an extensive Speakers Bureau that helps connect students to real  career stories.

As you can imagine, they are highly reliant on Volunteers and Community Sponsors and are always looking for people to either Donate, Volunteer or Share info about BEP. To find out more about the charity, visi tBEP Waterloo Region | Making every day Career Day (bepwr.ca)

To find out more about how to become a volunteer, visit Volunteer - Get Involved | BEP Waterloo Region (bepwr.ca)

Rena thanked Julie and out meeting was adjourned.
