Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Jim opened the meeting, with George doing the invocation, Florence our four way test and Murray was in attendance to lead us in a decent rendition of O'Canada.
Dean Baracca was our illustrious SAA-proved he could multi task and knew most of the Rotarians by name. 22 Rotarians present and 4 guests; June Thao, Susan Lockett both from CMH. Two guests of Leslee Urqhart - Christina and Cayley, David and Linzie Reeves.
It was almost a full house and for those that were not in attendance we missed you and hope to see you at rotary soon!
Health and Good Cheer
No official report although it was good to see Murray and no news is good news!
50-50 Draw
Paul T. was a very solid replacement for Johnny J - who is relaxing in the sun in Aruba as you are reading - two tickets were drawn the first one Prez Jim - the pot wasn't big enough  and the other was Heidi  - no one had any horse shoes today.

Good News
Heidi had good news that despite all of her incidents - seven to be exact her insurance company still likes her enough to provide a new car after hers became a write off last week. No accident but hood hit the windshield of the car.
Matt M. Is off to Florida for some golf and warmer weather.
Jared announced that he is almost through his certification course and becoming Geotechnical Engineer
Jokester
Paul M joke was rated "family" today - surprising that is likely one of the first jokes that has not required a disclaimer! It was good no groans were heard but we could move up to perhaps at least a PG version.
Backpacks, airplanes and Hilary Clinton...had to be there to appreciate it.
Announcements and Upcoming Events
Tom Everett - reminded everyone of the bonspiel - lots of fun and fellowship if you still want to curl get a hold of Tom. He also Thanked Matt for his work at getting prizes, we have a piper this year and we have a great fundraiser with our golf simulator.
We do need more prizes so if you can bring them to curling next week or to the meeting that would be greatly appreciated.
Linda announced the golf tournament on May 14th we have some sponsors already confirmed - thanks to those in the club who have already donated -$175 per golfer will be a great day so mark your calendars.
Best Bites cheque was presented - $22018.00 gross total raised is $75k Sue Lockett and June from the Hospital presented the chq and talked about the rebranding of Transformation CMH to We care CMH.  The funding for our amazing new hospital is almost complete with $9.6mm to go - our final push to get this done. There will be a "reveal" gala event five weeks prior to opening.
The last push is so important that they have many community ambassadors to help in make this all happen and are reaching out to their networks - Larry Brokenshire is one of the ambassadors - this campaign is really what are hospital is for #thisisforallofus should be on your feeds as well as #wecarecmh

Program
Linda introduced our guest speaker today - Rena Hawkins whom much like Linda is a very committed successful business woman.
Rena started her slide presentation with a  caption many of us can relate to - "I shook my family tree and a bunch of nuts fell out".  She is part of a very "eclectic" family whereby she is the 2nd last of five, youngest and middle child all at once. The diagram was way better than the explanation.
Her sister Rachel is like a twin sister they are inseparable and only sister from two same parents. She grew up with a single Mom as her Dad was a free spirit and didn't come back into their lives until later.  Her mother, grandmother and father are the most influential in her life. Her mother instilled when the going gets tough the tough get going, her grandmother always showed the value of putting others before herself and her father always taught her you have to be adaptable to change and embrace it.
Rena  has a son Gavin and a daughter Laura - her son loves the outdoors and is travelling to Africa to climb Kilamanjaro with her brother this year. Laura is a natural when it comes to musical instruments and she has a great voice.
Rena's partner Dave has three children and he is also involved in music- drummer - his daughter is expecting and they are very excited to have a new baby in the family. Mattie and Taz , their doodle and cat are the furry family.
Go Jays go - Rena is a season ticket holder...and loves live music.
Career aspirations had always been working with kids and early childhood education - while working in the trucking business for challenger Rena would go to night school to ensure she could get the education she wanted to fulfill her dreams.  One evening while working at challenger someone mentioned that she would have to get out soon or she never would....well he was right and before starting her business Rena took her Supply chain and logistics designation. In 2013 Rena started her H-Four Logistics company and has never looked back.  H-Four specializes in moving freight domestic, international and specialized. There was analogy drawn to kids and starting a business - its a great idea but there is no real handbook when the time comes. Trucking does run in her blood as her Grandfather did have his own company before he was purchased by Canada Cartage.
Rena joined rotary to give back to the community which helped her and her family growing up over the years.
Leslee thanked Rena for her wonderful presentation and I now everyone walked away knowing so much more about the passion, commitment and dedication Rena has to both her business, her community and her family.
