Opening and Sgt @ Arms Report
El Presidente Rena Hawkins welcomed everyone and started the meeting at 12:40pm - our transient (as the Fed's said inflation was supposed to be....perhaps Neil is here to stay a little longer) Rotarian Neil recited the 4 way test and Larry read a beautiful invocation.
Of course PP Todd couldn't stay out of the limelight too long....and as SAA he didn't take the Mic and actually kept it to a few minutes - wow - record!
We  had 18 Rotarians, 2 zoomers and 5 guests - Sukhi's family and Katie's daughter - who looks just like her Mom.

50/50 Draw
The pot of $$$$ is growing - $700 and still no winners - Sukhi a platinum buyer as well as Murray were not that lucky......be sure to make it to the meeting the odds are SOOO much better!

Club Opportunities
Want to flex your Rotary muscles and involvement with our club? We are always in need of help with our fund-raising committees. It's a good way to feel good, do good and get to know your fellow members.

We are also looking for another bulletin editor. Aspiring writers looking to do light-hearted character assassinations (optional, but encouraged) are most welcome!

Good news
Good News was light today - which is hard to believe as it is summer- we haven't had to use any water to ensure the grass is green nor for  our plants-we  are all saving money on our water bill !
Murray had great news - they came back from Louisville Kentucky - an International Barber Shop convention.  There were Barbershoppers from Ireland, Germany, Aussies, the New Zealanders - it was a great convention and the Murray's group got to the local news for singing in an Irish Bar.  sounded like a fabulous weekend and congratulations to Murray and his great group - Harbour Town Sound - I hope that is still the name.
Rotary Member - Sukhi Gill -who am I
PP Ragbir Mann introduced our Guest speaker today - Sukhi Gill

Ragbir first met Sukhi at a Chamber event and instantly knew Sukhi was a great fit for Rotary. Even though Sukhi is away for some time in India his heart is always thinking about Rotary and when he is in Canada he works hard for the club and in the community.
Sukhi did a wonderful talk about the important people in his life - family, friends, Professional life and why Rotary was a good fit.
The Pillars in your life are the people that really improve the quality and experiences of our life and impressions that we carry for our lifetime- and create the lasting legacy.
Sukhi's parents were very influential and there was a key message from his father which was (translated to english from Punjabi) Blessings to Everyone and prosperity to all.
His Father was a man that no matter whom you met, what station of life of the person when introduced, you always gave respect and shook hands - if it was an elder you honoured them in a bough - not sure I would want to kiss any feet however, that was a tradition for younger generation.
Sukhi's Mother was also very influential and her quote was always teaching that you look for the wisdom and strength to be satisfied with whatever has been given to you at any time.
There was always importance on family togetherness, to ensure love and respect were in the forefront- not just immediate but extended family.
As an extended family they love to not only get together but travel and enjoy the great experiences and moments of life together. Sukhi has four sisters and 2 brothers - with four sister's I'm sure Sukhi was well trained....LOL.
Sukhi grew up on a family farm and learned the hard work it took to run the business- this also allowed him time to hunt and where he became an animal lover - his passions at that time  and still today was Hunting and fishing.
Sukhi worked with Microsoft and then started up his own company called Akus Technologies in 2008. They now have expanded into the US and India - the company partners with Amazon, Google, DELL and CISCO to name a few - in order to pass along savings to end clients.
They provide cloud services, security, Disaster and Recovery and Business Continuity solutions- they focus on ensuring networks get up and running within minutes to ensure as much as possible loss is mitigated due to downtime.
Rotary is a natural fit for Sukhi with his love and support for family - he has a passion to give back to community.  Not only a fisherman and hunter - he is also a pretty good cook although if you aren't into some good libations along with meat ensure you bring your own dinner- lol- everyone is always welcome in their home.
They have a beautiful home in India that they visit for extended times throughout the year.  Still a kid at heart with the passion to take in and create so many more special moments with family, good friends, Rotary and business.
You definitely want to keep the child in you Alive !
Jim M thanked Sukhi and Rena honoured Sukhi's talk by donating to immunize children from Polio.
