Katie had a pretty big Smile for her last meeting.
George mentioned that everyone was good however, we did miss John Jonas and we think he may have a sore shoulder from Oktoberfest night....however, it happened we hope he has a speedy recovery.
One of our new members Sandra had an allergic reaction - ended up in hospital. Hoping she is feeling better.
Our guest drew the 50/50 ticket and it was Kevin Sinclair sitting at the same table....right beside the person drawing the ticket......???

Lots of good news today - likely due to off site meetings - kevin had great news - and was asked back to be the MC at the Mayor's celebration of the Arts.
Maurice had great news - going to Vancouver soccer game to see the ladies play....had an extra ticket for anyone in the club who wanted to fly out.
Cayley had a great time at the Rotary International Convention in San Paulo as well as her travels. She also had a great time at the Presidents Ball.
Chris W. had wonderful news - her daughter Kaylee has graduated as a Dr. of optometry and both Wally and Chris are officially retired. They sold their business to their son Adam.
Mike T. announced that Alison their daughter got into a collision and was very lucky that all airbags deployed and although bruised is safe and both parties were ok.
Noah was happy that Paul T. came in under budget on the Presidents Ball - amazing and great Job Paul T and your committee !!!!

Paul T thanked his committee for a great job on the Presidents Ball - well attended and a great time had by all. Mark your calendar for next year JUNE 24, 2016 same time, same place, same band!!
We were also reminded to mark our calendars for August 13th - off site meeting - Annual Pig Roast held at Marcia's place. Pool Party same rule ...no speedos
Marcia thanked those that already helped at Argus house and mentioned they need more help Friday. It was a success and the flooring is in and old carpet out.

Katie mentioned that everyone had a great time at the Presidents Ball - re-invented in Katie's year thanks to Paul T. and committee for doing such a great job.
Jim Johnston was named Rotarian of the year and Paul M. our jokester extrodinaire received the Rookie of the year.  Katie also mentioned that the club received a Presidential Citation for satisfying all her areas of growth and development  that she had set out to do at the beginning of her year.
Within Katie's year we had a successful fundraising year with Rotary Roses, Best Bites and Oktoberfest - first of an annual Hammershot Bar.  The Dumfries clean up, Argus House painting group, the Bridges dinner and our own fellowship events. Our club was nominated for two Chamber awards of which we won service club of the year.
Out of the entire district we grew by 11 net new members and our club has nine - that speaks volumes about the leadership, fellowship and involvement of our club.
Katie concluded and will soon be a "has been" once July 1st arrives. Cayley then took over the meeting thanking Katie and presented her with a wonderful gift of diapers and a soother...just in case Katie felt the need to have the microphone in future meetings. Katie, as we know is the youngest President our club (Past President and hon.member Todd Lyons did hold that title once upon a time.) and she acknowledged this by giving each board member a plant which contributed to her growth throughout the year. Paul T. and yours truly were rather kind. The club presented Katie with a small acknowledgement for a wedding gift that they both may get enjoyment from....we didn't want to do this any early as it may have been too much of a distraction.
Mike mentioned that katie was remise in acknowledging her new husband, wedding and the large distraction during that time as well as her lack of maturity showing up with ripped jeans to the District conference. Mike definitely had some great material.  Everyone enjoyed Katie's last meeting and we all agreed she did a fantastic job! Looking forward to another great year, a new theme and President Cayley's first meeting !!!
Directors and committee chairs are encouraged to add their content to our website, and I'm happy to point them to online training.  It's not so tough once you get into it.
A lot of the stuff that gets send around by email would really be more useful on our website, where members, prospective members, and the community can see what we do.
Email me if you're not sure how to get started.
