Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Chad opened up the meeting - Karen K recited the 4-Way Test, Dean provided the Invocation, and we all Toasted everybody

The Sergent at Arms report announced by Jim J had us at 19 members and 5 guests - Ethan, son of Chad, his friend Liz Cox, guests of Dean's were Phil and Jill T, visiting Rotarian Jose from Argentina, and finally Noah's mom Bonnie, who now has better attendance at our meetings than Noah...  although Noah was with us today, hopefully it's  a new trend!
50-50 Draw

Ran well by Dean - until he managed to have his guest's ticket drawn, who then somehow managed to pull Dean's ticket.....   something a little fishy there, but ultimately both were losers, so we're all good.
Good News
Matt M - back from 3.5 weeks in Australia!!  And, today, mark's Matt's mom's 100th birthday!!  However, Matt was able to attend our meeting as his mom is unfortunately under quarantine, but will hopefully be out soon...

Noah - is now neighbours with Kayley - but the REAL good news is that the move is over!

Karen K - announced the arrival of her 4th grand child - a girl, helping to offset the previous 3 boys...

Announcements and Upcoming Events
We were all wowed with an exceptional Roses wrap-up presentation by Todd and Mike - some of the highlights:
- the first year where we had to commit 2 weeks in advance to numbers - went WELL!!
- fist year of 'Invoice Me', which was very successful
- although many '0' sales, we had far better overall member participation this year - let's keep up the trend!
- final tally was 789 dozen, so about $11,000 profit
- Paul T was the run away big seller with 126
- many other large corporate sales which is a GREAT way to grow
- for next year, we hope to:
     - provide better sales feed back during the campaign (so you know who has bought)
     - add an 'any day' delivery option, helping us smooth out deliveries
GREAT JOB TO MIKE, KATIE, AND TODD - and ALL of the Rotarians who sold and/or roses!!!!!

Paul M - spoke about everyone watching out during their busy days for potential members - you never know where we'll find them - they are literally everywhere!  Commitments include $$$, attendance, and involvement - but the old thing about 'you only get out of it what you put in to it' is so true for Rotary.

Noah's mom Bonnie filled us in on the Trinity Community Table - serving 19,000 hot meals per year - they are always on the look out for sponsorship and volunteers.  They receive NO government funding, and all donations over $10 receive a tax receipt - please consider:  https://www.trinityanglican.on.ca/community-table
Specifically, they are raising funds/sponsorships for a Christmas event December 7&8, please visit their website for more details

Reminder - our Christmas Party is Friday, November 29, mark it down, keep it clear!!

Program
As today is World Polio Day - that was our program.  President Chad had arranged for a Virtual Reality experience for members to get a better understanding of the situation.

I'm a numbers guy - so here are some of the interesting ones....

- Rotary started the Polio Plus campaign in 1985
- in 1988 it became a global drive to eratacate the disease
- traditionally affects kids under 5 years
- water is a carrier...
- it can not be cured, but can be stopped with the vacine
- still in 3 countries
- 10 years ago, the Bill and Linda Gates Foundation started to match all Rotary funds 2 to 1
- Rotary has spent 1.9 Billion, the total spent is 8 billion
- the world was under 30 new cases last year
- I thought the most interesting stats were the fact that only 25% of people who carry the Polio virus show 'flu like' symptoms, and only 1 in 200 actually have physical impairments.  So, the disease can be active in a country, but be completely undetected for a number of years while it spreads around, and then eventually physically affects 1 child (meaning there are at least 200 others spreading the disease.......)

President Chad wrapped it up, reminding us Caitlyn McIntyre will be speaking to us next week about Roteract, and, our Christmas Party is Friday November 29!!
