Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
Prior to the official part of today's meeting we mingled about and were served hors d'heurves and Christmas Cheer. We were serenaded with Christmas music by Joy and Noah Scheuster . We sang some carols. We brought in our bags of donations for the Cambridge Self Help Food Bank. We were almost ready to settle down for a long winter's nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter that we knew it was Linda and she chaired today's Meeting.
Sandra Pelltier introduced our musicians. Joy is concert master of the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and Noah is her son. Noah attends McGill and plays the cello. You can see the Cambridge Symphony perform at  the Hamilton Theatre ( Cambridge) on Feb 14 and 15th. Tickets are still available.
Chad did the 4 way test and Joe Gowing said the invocation.
Jared was Sargeant at arms: 24 Merry Rotarians  and one honourary Rotarian in the form of Todd Lyons. Also 4 guests. Elisha Evans and spontaneous visitor and guest of Alyssia. Kim who is Chad's wife. Paul McMenemy, guest of Santa and Mark Nykamp, guest of Cathy G.

Health and Good Cheer
George was here, no significant Health and Good Cheer. Liska is recovering. George handed out tax receipts from his Movember campaign which is a form of good cheer.

50-50 Draw

Our Pot is so large now that we will be getting threatening tweets from Donald T.
Visions of sugar plums danced in our heads, but Scrooge-ish Jared administered the draw and both Cathy and I think Paul got a lump of coal instead.

Good News

Florence went to some place warm. She had a gentleman with her who did not want to be her husband. So it must have been a business trip.
Paul T Cody said they placed first in the curling playoffs but then had a bad game last night.
Jared said he sat an exam last night to get his degree in Geo- Science at U of W. He is thankful for the support of his family and his workplace.

Jokester
As we drew in our heads and were turning around,
Down the chimney McMenemy came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And he told us a joke that brought tears to our eyes!

Announcements and Upcoming Events

Linda thanked us for bringing food donations for the food bank.
She reminded us of the President's Levi at her place on Jan 14th 2018,1pm to 4 pm.

Program
Linda led us through a delightful Christmas Trivia Contest. Now we are up on the facts and can impress our own families at Christmas dinner.
The winners of the contest were Joe Gowing and Mark Nykamp. Each received a bottle of Oktoberfest liquor that will grace the back of their liquor cabinets for millenia to come.

And laying her finger aside of her nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney she rose,
She sprang to her sleigh , to her team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down on a thistle.
But I heard her exclaim as she drove out of sight,
Happy Christmas to all and to all a good Night.
(Well, not quite. Some one wore the wrong peacoat home with Matt's car keys and stuff in it. Matt was stranded at the Country Club. Not a fate worse than death)
