George S. mentioned that Bill Mitchell seems to be a bit better. He is able to drive which is great - so don't forget when you are going out to send along an invite.

Paul told his joke  and it was a good one ...Scottish ones are always great...especially when the involve sheep.  Laugh score was very good as the rating was either an R or an A - which usually warrant it.

Laugh Score (1-10): 7

Rating (see scale below)A/R

  • G – General Audience – Suitable for all ages.
  • PG – Parental Guidance – Parental guidance advised. There is no age restriction but some material may not be suitable for all children.
  • 14A – 14 Accompaniment – Persons under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
  • 18A – 18 Accompaniment – Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. In the Maritimes & Manitoba, children under the age of 14 are prohibited from listening to the joke.
  • R – Restricted – Exposure to this joke is restricted to people 18 years of age or older.
  • A – Adult – Admittance restricted to people 18 years of age or older. Sole purpose of the joke is the portrayal of sexually explicit activity and/or explicit violence.
* as always, you must attend to hear the joke.
Neil introduced our Guest Speakers - our honourary member Bill Barlow and the other gentleman Murray Mills. Both from our local Probus club. Murray started of with a joke that involved a hearing aid and a "napkin"...he must be the joke teller at Probus as it was almost as good as Paul's!!
There are two groups of ladies and one group of men....three clubs in town. In the boys club, there are 120 members and the two ladies clubs.  The clubs meet monthly. The first Probus club was started in Caterham England in 1966 and the first club in North America in our time zone, started in 1987 was Cambridge, Ontario.  A few founding members are still part of their group today. Unlike Rotary and our club they are not a service organization so there is no fundraising involved and their annual fee is $75.00. (Dee we would miss you)  They are strictly a social club. It seems like a great organization for those that have retired as its certainly a great way to meet new, like minded people. It sounds like they have wonderful socials events with their spouses, and interesting excursions. They accept members who are retired, they don't promote any particular political or religious opinions (Jim J you may have a hard time...), and rather than a fine for having their ringing cell phone devices they get fined for not bringing their hearing aids. They certainly sound like they have lots of fun. The Probus club does support one very worthy program - The Veteran's program.
It was so nice to see their enthusiasm and would be great to make one of their meetings!

Have a fantstic week - hoping I didn't offend anyone....its my terrible sense of humour...or lack there of....just let Ben know if you were offended and he can fire me.
Directors and committee chairs are encouraged to add their content to our website, and I'm happy to point them to online training.  It's not so tough once you get into it.
A lot of the stuff that gets send around by email would really be more useful on our website, where members, prospective members, and the community can see what we do.
