Good News
Tom S. had some good news. He is going to his high school graduating class reunion tomorrow. That would be 1969 and Stouffville  District High School. Have not seen those people for fifty years.

If there was more good news I missed it. See comments in Jokester.

Program
Sandra Pelltier introduced today's speaker. Scott Higgins. Scott runs a development company but is here to promote the idea of ' The Creative Capital of Canada'.
This title is a mouthful and Scott and his partners in the scheme want this to be the 'brand name' for Waterloo Region.
Scott is a born and raised Preston kid.
He wants to promote a ' build more than real estate philosophy'
He says that creativity should refer to more than just the Arts.
He says we have a rich legacy in creativity that often goes unrecogized and consequently unknown to students. Ideas , inventions and concepts that started here are Imax, blue box recycling, river management by GRCA , restorative justice , hockey sticks made in Hespeler that the Russians craved, and the list goes on.
Ideas that he and his partners want to incorporate in to the Creative Capital of Canada movement include class room focus, recognition of creativity and talent, mentorship, no political bias, community focus .
Also not entirely fleshed out is the idea of a fund to promote and reward creative ability in students.

I think this proposal meshes with some of our Rotary efforts in community service and business start up. He would make a good speaker at Camp Enterprise if it is still running.

Chad said that ten kids somewhere in the world would be painfully immunized against polio in his honour.
