Sandra P introduced Alison Haddaway Director of Donor Relations for Saint Lukes Place. Alison who grew up locally started in housekeeping while she was in high school at the Riverbend. From there she went to school in travel and found herself with seniors on cruises. It seemed only natural to take this position on. St Lukes is doing a rebuild. They need 7 million and have one million already. They need the money before they can rebuild. Needs have changed since original building.. Now more walkers and wheelchairs necessitate wider hallways and doors. They hope to have more beds when their done. Each new bed costs a license fee(tax) $ 30000. The government restricts the number of beds licensed in the province. ( to control their costs) Currently the waiting list is 176 at Saint Lukes. They currently have 300 residents. I asked a question which seemed like it open the flood gates for more questions. Alison promised Sandra that she would get her CEO to come back as there was serious interest in the topic. Saint Lukes plan with a new facility is to have a dialysis clinic which makes some sense. This would be available to the public too. There are lots of opportunities to donate. If you would like a room or a floor named after you ,they can accommodate you. They have a fundraiser in October but I am not sure when. Jeff Hunter thanked her on behalf of the club. And Paul Codi gave the official thanks. |
