Opening and Sgt at Arms Report
President Jim opened the meeting.
Dr Tom said the Four Way Test and then said a Rotary Prayer which sounded like the long version of the 4 way test.
Murray Pearson was present so we sang O'Canada, toasted the Queen and Canada.
Leslie Urquhart was SAA. We had 19 Rotarians present and 5 guests.
Health and Good Cheer
George said he was pleased to see Wilf and that he was looking well. All in all things were looking up with Larry walking better and John Jonas completely mobile with no apparent assistive devices.

50-50 Draw
Chief Neil ran the game show with an alleged pot of $450.00  We were not working with a full deck, but it got lost and we now have a new one. John J. and Brian W. were both losers,
Good News
Chris Wood is home form the cottage near Mattawa. It was a summer of renovations and they are almost done.
Cayley said she had an excellent boat cruise on Lake Puschlinch. I think organized by our Pres. She also noted that Linda B. and our club were nominated as having the best charity event by the Chamber of Commerce. The event was the golfing fundraiser for the Veterans. Congratulations for a job well done.
Jokester ???
We did not have a joke and I do not think we had a Rotary Moment.
Announcements and Upcoming Events
John Jonas has mislaid an Oktoberfest easel and frame. If anyone knows its whereabouts let him know. He said we need more sponsors for Oktoberfest although the sponsorships are starting to roll in. He said he needs two people to help run the Hammerschott at Best Bites. Thats this weekend. Contact John if you can help.

Linda B. said that Best Bites which is happening this Sunday afternoon is looking really good. Approx. 285 tickets have been sold. She said a radiology team would be there . But I missed why. Maybe they can do an xray if someone sprains their ankle. Also three local painters will be there to record the day. I am not sure if body painting is being offered.
Some exciting items are in the Live Auction:  Dinner for eight at a fire hall. Can we slide down the pole? Also a hotel suite getaway and a cottage weekend or two. Sounds great.
Rotarians can donate from their wine cellar to flesh out the silent auction.

Linda also went on to say that there is a fundraising Dinner at Jim McPherson's on Sept 21st. Chef D will be doing his thing. It is a fundraiser for Kids with Cancer. 14 have signed up so far and the table only seats 20...so get in there.
Sadly Hurricane Irma has passed over the British Virgin Islands and Linda has some good friends there. She is anxiously awaiting some news.

Jim said that our Rotary Club is into its ' Perfect Storm' of fundraising. That is Best Bites this weekend then Rotary Roses and Oktoberfest for Thanksgiving. He urged new members to jump in and help.
Program
First we had an induction ceremony. Heidi, Linda, Jim and Jim....well just about the whole room was up at the front to officially welcome Russ and Rena into our club. Welcome!.

Joslin Maurice did her ' Who am I'. She was introduced by Heidi.

Joslin was born in Stratford and started organizing her friends for sales efforts etc at an early age. She acquired the nickname ' Bossy Jossy'.
She has always had a dog.
After high school she visited Europe and a few years later went on a world tour. She found she really liked South East Asia and the Islands of the Western Pacific.
After that she seemed to move back and forth between Toronto and Stratford. She gravitated to the Restaurant Management and the Hospitality Business.
She has learned the value of hard work and long hours on the job.
Her efforts have paid off and she is now Chief Executive officer for Pearle. This is a family-run business that has several restaurants, bakeries ( bread bars), and a farm to grow fresh produce. They are presently doing and extensive re-make of the Elora Mill complete with a wedding venue, bridge across the Grand, condo units and their own hydro generator
Sounds very exciting.
She lives on Puschlinch Lake and has two kids.
Thanks for a great talk.
