Kristen introduced our speaker and candidate for Cambridge Mayor, Ryan Bolender.
Ryan is a 3rd generation resident of Cambridge. He is the son of a general contractor and a long serving community nurse. His wife Jill is a Remax realtor. They have 3 lovely daughters. He has a degree from U of Waterloo. He intended to go to law school. But instead he continued with his landscaping/ handiman business which is now a residential construction firm, Blackbridge Construction. He has served on community boards, coached sports, mentored young adults and trucked two of his daughters around to Cheer Leading Events.
He has had his own business since the age of 18. Now there is an entrepreneur.
He filled in a pothole in front of a disabled neighbour's house. A video of this went viral and the city of Cambridge is upstaged and upset.
He wants to bring some new direction to Cambridge Council. ( hallelujah….I read that the City of Cambridge is #1 on the list of municipalities that are difficult to deal with.)
He supports 1. More affordability (increasing taxes are the issue) 2.Road Safety 3. Homelessness and public safety as a result of homeless people being present).
There were questions.
Maybe throwing more money at these issues is not the answer. But everything costs. No easy answers. Get out and vote on Oct 26th.
