ED WR Victim Services - Project Lifesaver

Monique Ekres is the Executive Director of Victim Services of Waterloo Region. She began working with VSWR in 2022 when she assumed the role of Human Trafficking Crisis Intervention Counsellor. In this role she was embedded in the Human Trafficking Unit of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, providing crucial frontline support to victims of human trafficking in our community. Her extensive experience in frontline work supporting victims of crime spans over eight years and includes a cross-cultural internship in Southeast Asia, where she supported victims of domestic and international sex trafficking. She brings a strong passion for working with individuals impacted by trauma and practices part-time as a psychotherapist.
